Bungie has stated in the past that they cannot keep up with the workload of having a vendor refresh every year as well as a bunch of new guns every year. It wasn’t that long ago that they said that kind of pace wasn’t realistic for them and they actually referenced that season of the drifter, black armory, and season of opulence was too stressful for them.... yet here people like you are saying you don’t even know how many guns they are going to release..... honestly it will probably be somewhere around five new guns a season and a whole bunch of old guns thrown in as well. This is what they have been doing since shadowkeep which by the way was the SMALLEST yearly dlc to date. They haven’t been releasing much content this year and their excuse was once again.... we cannot keep up with the model we had before shadowkeep and it was too stressful on our developers. This was their whole reason for shifting to the current model.... well that and money but as I was saying. I should take this time to mention that Forsaken, Season of the drifter, black armory, and season of opulence all put together added less content than The Taken King did back in destiny 1. In the taken King we experienced gear retirement but what came with it was an across the board refresh to every vendor in the game. This included crucible, vanguard, new monarchy, Dead orbit, Future War Cult, Iron Banner, Trials of Osiris, Prison of elders, Petra Venj..... those were just the vendors. We also got all new strike specific loot, all new exotic quests, all new world drops, and a bunch of new exotic weapons and armor. That is why the taken King was ok but this is not. Bungie will not be able to do that kind of update to weapons and armor every single year considering we have had the same set of iron banner weapons since forsaken, the same set of vanguard weapons since forsaken, the same set of crucible weapons since forsaken, and the same set of gambit weapons since forsaken. They did add a few more weapons for gambit prime and reckoning but that came in a different dlc and it was the only weapons they released for that dlc..... unless they take the taken king approach to this(which they won’t) this will only piss off and alienate their community after this falls flat on its face.....

The RNG for weapon/armor rolls is batshit, soul-killing insane. You can't even change the masterwork anymore. It's only "worth it" to grind rolls with the game as it is if you get to use them forever. If they want to make loot "disposable" they'd better make it a helluva lot easier to get rolls by either reducing perk pools or reintroducing some kind of re-rolling.

Luke Smith is destroying the game and bungie will go down faster than a fat kid on a donut. Players leaving on a daily basis and not just a few. I left and ONLY come back to beat the grand master NF since it's the only thing worth a shit anymore. What a waste of 6 years on a game that used to be great. To see it in the disgusting place it is in now is truly sad. Do they really think dictating what gun you use or armour you wear is what the community wants? LMAO maybe they might want to read the forums for ONCE and listen.

These devs aren't talented people. Remember that. They aren't Halo Bungie. They're garbage. And the company is run now only to get you to buy absolutely useless digital nonsense with real money. They have no other goal.

The way I see it, what’s the incentive for players to keep grinding for new gear once they get their perfectly rolled armor and weapons? Some people like myself care more about the looks than the stats, so we will constantly chase new gear that looks good, but what about everyone else? They’ll just keep their perfect sets and stick with those; any further armor drops will just feel useless, or simply infusion material. Sunsetting urges players to (eventually) grind out the new gear instead of sticking with the same gear for years and years (important to note that you can keep your hard-earned gear and use it for non-pinnacle activities, which is the majority of the game). And if you’re complaining because you don’t want to constantly grind for new gear, then you need to delete the game. Bungie has made it VERY clear that grinding is the name of the game, so if you don’t like grinding, then this isn’t the game for you. Move on.

Sunsetting in D1 hurt for a minute but ultimately turned out OK because they replaced that gear with new loot people actually wanted to use. The problem now is players have lost a lot of faith in Bungie’s ability to add compelling content to the game. The few weapon and armor designs they’ve added are more “miss” than “hit” lately and even if they do look good they’re often locked up behind raids or PvP. The team needs to ramp up loot generation and quality if they want to do this, otherwise this will be yet another nail in a coffin that already has plenty of nails hammered into it.

They have never had a plot man, its chicken with its head cut off, its always been this way, this is why Activision didn't care that Bungie wanted to leave, Activison knew they were a bunch of fools. All that talk about new light and and making new game modes, and we will be able to fully realize our vision after they left Activision, its all smoke an mirrors, to see how much money they can get from us while doing nothing.

Wow, let’s just use the same guns for next 3 years because it took a couple hours to get it and used it for over 1000 hours but hey, staying the same is fun right? People getting mad and nothing is being taken from them, just power capped, yet you all buy cod, nfl, nba every year and they just swap a map and some players round and you buy all the same stuff over and over.

If anything the sun-setting seems to be in their way motivation to keep farming for loot. At a certain point your favorite legendary will be obsolete, so you have to farm for the next god roll in the archetype. Sounds like the opposite of the title’s premise. Now had this been about storage space in the vault, then I agree. We need vastly more vault space since you cannot pull random roll loot from collections. You have to keep all your variants to test out or Incase and update shakes up what’s “good”.

I’m waiting to see and willing to try sunsetting. A yearly expiration date on weapons and gear seems like plenty of time to use stuff. It’s quite better than every season. The real test though will be if Bungie can constantly release enough loot as older loot expires. People in general don’t like change, but it needs to happen. We are all using the same load outs in general from years past. Armor that is worn is normally just infused when a DLC drops and no one cares about the armor within the DLC.
