EP, Gambit and the first forge gave me the most exotic drops. Those three activities are full of orange/yellow bar enemies, but Gambit might bypass the theoretical anti-farming mechanics due to it being an activity that is expected to be played to completion. I've also had a Prime Engram turn exotic the moment I picked it up, it was the multi barrel auto.
