Let’s say you team has an average k/d of 1.2 but controls 1 zone. The other team has an average of .8 but always holds two.
Who wins?
Them.
If someone on your team had 12 kills and ten deaths, their kills would be worth 12 points, however their deaths are worth 20 points.
In comparison, someone on the opposing team with 8 kills and ten deaths would earn his team 16 points and your team would only get 10 from his deaths.
Literally, the only way you can lose holding two points is if the enemy teams has more than double your teams k/d.

That kind of proves my point. If you focus on killing, and are good at it, you can essentially bypass the need for maintaining 2 control points. Considering heavy drops crazy, supers can affect a wide area and control by design puts guardians in a small confined area several times a game, this isn't an unreasonable reality.
