“A national survey was done about what one word described Christianity to people, and it was ‘Anti-Homosexual’.
85% of church goers reported that their LGTBQ friends wouldn’t come to church because they wouldn’t feel welcome.
I’ll tell you this much: They have some very different ideas on how we should live, but they love people. They just LOVE people.
But John [pastor], aren’t you going to say there’s another part to that?
Nope. That’s for another day.
Jesus wasn’t put to death because he preached anti homosexual. He was put to death because he was a friend of sinners.”
I found that to be an interesting question. What would you say is the first word that pops into your brain when you think of Christianity?

They don’t even follow what their God said or did. Jesus never preached anti homosexuality, but they treat it like the Black Plague. Also, God doesn’t exist

1 ResponderAs times change a different sin becomes popular. Today the most -publicized- for lack of a better term, is homosexuality. This prompts a response from the church, almost to the fault of the church, to focus too much on gays. It is all sin and should all be treated as such. Now, that being said, homosexuality is popular and does need addressing from a Christian standpoint. It is to remember that we are all sinners and all deserve punishment, but through Christ we are spared. Here is the though question, especially for those who let being gay define them. “Can you truly confess and repent your sin while still actively pursuing that sin?” Can the murder continue to murder while being saved? Can the thief continue to steal, or the blasphemers blaspheme? There’s an issue with churches saying that being gay is ok too. Another thing is that modern Christians are taking on roles not assigned. We are called to be like Christ, not the Father. In that calling we are to serve and point to the Father. That includes judging other Christians, but it benefits nobody to go around telling non-believers how much better than them you are. It may sound cliche but the, “get them in the church and let God do the rest” really is how it goes. I’m no theologian, so I’m sure there are much smarter people than me who have talked on this subject.

1 Responder
I don't like the fundamentals Christianity is built upon. And I don't mean the values or anything, most of them are very good values; Caring about other people, loving everyone, even "hate the sin not the sinner" is a valuable lesson (even if it is a little preachy). What I don't like, is that Jesus is effectively a god, and it is commonly taught that "no one can be as good as jesus". This makes morality, humility, humanity, and everything good with the world seem different from everything bad in it. It puts "Being good" on this godly pedestal which it shouldn't be put upon; Goodness is a fundamental aspect of humanity, and we should treat it as any other positive human trait; Something we can attain no matter where live has led us too. Editado por Section Ratio General: 9/27/2018 4:41:59 AMComing from a Catholic, a sect of Christianity: Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with that description: Anti-homosexual. It perfectly describes the majority of Christian followers and their sects, and it's understandable to why they are considered anti-homosexual. The Bible states that homosexuality is a sin, and the punishment for that sin is death. However, the same level of punishment (death) also goes for people who sin by shave their beards, eat shellfish, wear mixed fabrics, and eat their steaks anything below well-done. Personally for me, I'm not gay, but I shave every single day, crab is my favorite seafood, I wear different material of clothing when I go to the gym, and I eat my steaks medium. By that account, I should be put to death 4 times over than someone who is gay. Then again, Leviticus is a pretty draconian way of looking at how someone should live their life. Yes, there are people in the Christian (and its sects) faith who are tolerant of homosexuals, but they are the minority of followers, while the majority are pretty anti-homosexual. I notice that even in my own church, my fellow parishioners are extremely anti-homosexual. It's a good thing that the younger generations of the Christian faith are much more tolerant about homosexuality than the older ones.

7 RespostasHonestly this is one of the reasons why I feel liberated by not having any religious affiliation. There're the obvious reasons like you dont have to fast or go to church or pray. But also it's a freedom to make decisions for yourself based on a personal code you make for yourself. People shouldn't look to their religion for their moral code, but should make it for themselves. I guarantee a lot of people believe certain things solely because they were raised that way.

The same thing I think of any organized religion. The dead end of thought. Now I know that's a blanket statement and doesn't apply to a lot of people, but it does apply to enough.

29 RespostasI don’t understand Christianity, specifically Catholic. The messages I understand. It’s the spiritual parts that are strange. They say the Bible is the word of god yet it is stories about Jesus written down by his apostles and compiled years later at the council of Nicaea, from what I’ve heard is more akin to the Hadiths then a Holy book(on the assumption that what’s claimed to be a holy book is actually a holy book) like the Quran or the Torah. Second holy trinity has been described as being 3 parts of one god, which sounds like what the Hindus believe about Brahma but Christians says it’s monotheism? No hate to Christians, but Im very confused l

when i think of christians the first thing i think of is crazy delusional people just because that’s how my parents raised me to think. i don’t really feel that way, it’s just what i associate them with automatically.

Imperfection. Just like all of us who believe in a higher power, or those that don't believe anything. If there is a "God" up above, which could be the case, then we are all the same, just sinners leading a life that could be considered good or bad. No one knows what happens when we die, so some pray to be forgiven, while others work to be good, even if they don't believe.

I always crack up watching children preaching atheism when deep down they feel something tugging at their soul, that there is something more to this life that what they claim to deny.

1 ResponderPeople who are homosexual are not going to be booted into hell because they are gay. It doesn’t work like that. They’re living in sin. Just like I am. And just like we all are. It doesn’t make them bad people. If we were to judge gays because they’re, well, gay. Then we’d be hypocrites. You can’t judge someone who is living in sin when you’re living in sin that is just as bad. I know a lot of homosexuals. They’re all nice people. Actually nicer than most of my friends. They’re not these evil people who hate everyone and should be shunned. They’re good people.

The irony is that many CHRISTIAN denominations were blessing same-sex couples, effectively equivalent to marrying them, before any state got around to legalizing the practice. And yes, you can argue that same-sex sex violates what's in the Bible (Lev. 18:22). But then, so does hatred of any sort (1 John 4:20). If a person hates in Jesus's name, they are no more a good Christian than the high priests who murdered Jesus were good Jews.
