Failsafe is Fail, Asher is annoying, Don't even get me started on sloan. Why did you take deep and dark lore found in D1 and dumb it down for preteens? If the writers are good they can have deep stories that even a younger audience can relate to. Poor writers give us. . . . well what we got in D2.

Yeah it definitely needs to get darker. D1 had a much darker tone. Especially Hive level design.

1 ResponderI just want the feeling of mystery and discovery to return to the game. Deep and dark lore i agree with too.

2 RespostasI think it's more about consistency. They introduce characters, and then do nothing with them. Where the -blam!- is Shiro? The most I've heard is a line from Cayde about how we wouldn't believe what he's gotten up to. What is Sloan's actual purpose? It was literally like they just needed an NPC for Titan. What is up with these new Iron Lords? And for that matter, where is the rest of the stuff for the other Iron lords introduced in year 2 (E.G. Nirwen)? Are we just kinda pretending that Holliday doesn't exist until the summer when SRL returns? Oh...um...what in the actual shit happened to Efrideet? Or the group she mentioned? Is Tyra still alive? I haven't been to the farm in months. I'm just gonna assume that we won't get more on the Exo Stranger. I figure that we will hear from Eris when we get the Savathun expansion...I hope? No idea when we are gonna hear about the Queen and her brother. I think one of them was on Mars, and we are on Mars for the next DLC so maybe? Maybe not? Shit I don't know. Are we ever gonna see an Arhamkara, or is that just #Folklore? Honestly, at this point I would like them to just focus on telling stories with the characters that they have in place. Sure, maybe introduce some new ones every now and then, but focus on developing who we have right now. Like when we gonna see the father/daughter bond between Osiris and Ikora develops more? When we gonna get a brothers style reconciliation between Shaxx and Saladin? Maybe something with Cayde and Shiro...we know they know each other, but have never actually seen them converse. I think the Sunbreakers are a perfect example of how Bungie just bungles character development. They introduced a cool faction with tons of lore potential. Posed a problem. Hinted at a resolution. Then killed off the group entirely before any satisfactory climax was reached. Like shit, what was the point? Just pick a story, and tell it. Don't stop half way. Don't just hint. Commit to the tale and tell it in depth.

2 RespostasThe comics has a line from Sagria: "Later haters!" ... Are...you...kidding...me?... You went from: "You are a dead thing, made from a dead power in the shape of the dead... The Ghost rose's cut on my finger hasn't healed since." To: "Later Haters?" If this is the best the writers can do, then the franchise is already dead.

8 RespostasThe main writer made a living writing Twilight rip off books and ruining Marvel characters so badly that Marvel had to kill the characters off. Expect the fall comet expansions writing and story to be awful. I fully expect Anna Bray in Warmind to be a butch type lesbian feminist, it’s all the writer knows.

Editado por BoomboxCollosus: 4/19/2018 4:32:21 PMThey Disneyfied THE HELL out of the story. Holy crud!! And the friggin pandering is so corn surupy. "Oh, guardian, you're the best in the universe and everyone wants to marry you". GAG!! And they used Link as a character mold for our guardian....... how original.......I mean GENERIC. Seriously though , check out this website and all the lore they could use. There's some teeth and grit here that could be movie worthy here. Destinypedia - https://www.destinypedia.com

I like Asher... But I agree that they could go towards a little more adult story telling like D1

Editado por SpeedoSamurai: 4/21/2018 5:13:28 PMThe person they have writing the story for D2 used to be a children's book author. And now the game story is just like a kids book or a cheesy movie, it's horrible
-
7 RespostasBecause d2, curse of Osiris and warmind were written by a children's literature author.

3 RespostasEditado por LeBeeter: 4/20/2018 9:14:07 PMHi I’m 11, I love failsafe. She’s probably my favorite character I like destiny 2’s story but we need to nerf fusion rifles. ~TheGreatNike

1 ResponderThat's because their lead writer is a failed children's book author. But wait....the mediocre storytelling isn't complete without a feminist protagonist, which will be revealed in Warmind. One that doesn't need a guardian's help, but for the sake of subpar storyline, begrudgingly accepts, all the while letting you know that your help isn't needed.

3 RespostasAvatar: the Last Airbender was a show made for kids but it had a deep story and lore to it that actually made it appeal to almost all audiences. Same with the original Teen Titans. We need more stuff like this in general nowadays. Everything is so... kiddy and politically correct.

9 RespostasIt's not "poor writers" that is the reason for D2's story. It's the direction that these writers must adhere to. The director is responsible for which way the story goes, how it's told, what we see, what we don't see. If this game was made for casuals, the storytelling and characters are going to be casual. Star Wars Rogue One went casual, as did Marvel and now DC movies. It's a trend where humor is everywhere, and as long as the audience laughs and they like what they see, there's the success. D1 had a different direction: A dark tone of mystery and struggle through a world our own Guardian must learn and understand after their own resurrection from a distant time. A sense of home and doing what's necessary to reclaim it. The wonderment of the Darkness and the Light, and everything in between. An eternal struggle for answers sought out for in various perspectives, and reaching our future which has been our Destiny: BECOMING LEGEND. D2's direction: We make a great team! Vex milk, yes. Cayde is... dumb. No, Shaxx sounds like me. Bottomline -Our Guardian's need their voice back. -Ghost needs to have Dinklage's sincere tone. -Leave the humor to Cayde-6

I think the issue was that the writers they got to replace the original writer are just bad. Not naming names but, when Marvel get rid of someone for ruining a character. It's pretty clear that the person has zero respect for things that come before them. I've known a few writers like that. They think that their writing surpasses their peers and so don't take criticism or advice as anything other than hostile or an attempt to override their ideas. Sadly, given how Bungie treat their players, it's quite clear that this is the kind of person that would fit into such a team. I'm willing to bet money that the writer would even think that they could do a better Shakespear than Shakespear!

1 ResponderD1 = Lego D2 = Duplo

4 RespostasEditado por bhdreams1996: 4/20/2018 12:05:20 PMBecause they catered to casuals who play games and watch movies that are easy to play/watch. They don't want to think 1% and then it is 'good' for them. Edit: imagine destiny being more brutal (what it should be..) and with a much darker story. It would be freaking amazing.

Editado por KIngJS922: 4/20/2018 10:22:22 AMEven D1's storytelling was for preteens as the game was rated T for a reason, idk why people keep saying this as there wasnt much lore in game until taken king, even then not mich, and the reason it was "dark" is because 2 of its 4 dlc were about the hive. D2 was mainly about cabal, for D3 drop the T rating, go M and make a good damn story.
-
2 RespostasNo way man. If they did that then Luke’s nieces wouldn’t know what’s going on.
-
I'm not disagreeing that the content could have stayed darker. I just don't see how you equate it to "childish". I thing it's a salty way of looking at it.

Editado por Cyril: 4/19/2018 9:50:40 PMThe characters Bungie creates have always been somewhat light-hearted in tone and easy-going. Don't tell me that Srgt Johnson ever busted out a Shakespearean soliloquy like, "I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence", or that Cortana did her part to foster female equality when she said, "yank me" (Yes, that's a verbatim quote from Halo 1) In my head Bungie is made up of geniuses and artists who are extremely capable at making games that take your breath away in terms of feel and looks. It just doesn't seem that telling stories, forming characters is something Bungie seems to enjoy. The writing in Destiny has always seemed like shuffling together fancy words in hopes they'll end up meaning something or at least sound mysterious. The characters, as in Halo, are mostly people who are cheering you on on your murderous rampages and have no real business inhabiting this world on their own. They just seem to be there for you and because of you (the player), which is serviceable and helps make the player feel welcome in this world. I agree it would be great if writers who actually know what they're doing and are capable of writing character arcs could get involved in this project. But to me, it's not a must. I mean, the characters in D2 mostly just facilitate for you to have a good time and feel welcome in D2, which is fine by its own.

3 RespostasThe dialogue in this game is horrendous. There might be a lot to the actual lore, but the character dialogue and vocal delivery is absolutely vapid.
