1 ResponderHowever many replies this post gets is an accurate representation of how many genders there are.
if you disagree then you are a terrible person!
Editado por ERR-REDACTED: 12/8/2017 12:23:39 AMPersonally, I believe there are two. But I understand some people have different opinions and beliefs, and thus I respect them and allow to think the way they like because it’s not my place to force my opinion on them. Something that happens to me a lot.
Christians, looking at you guys. But there’s nothing wrong with being a Christian. Just please don’t try to force your religion on me. Thanks.
Biological sexes? 2, or 3 if you count intersex. Genders? It typically starts with 2 (male / female), but then there's a whole lot more "identities" which are cultural and societal.

7 Respostas<There are only 2, any arguments for third can usually be debunked. In fact, I'll do a couple right now. Hermaphrodites are not a third gender, they are a COMBO of the two. Trans people are not a third, for it is simply transitioning into the opposite gender.>

11 RespostasEditado por Stickman Al: 12/7/2017 5:13:55 PMIt depends what you mean by gender. It has more than one meaning, but in Europe we don't really use it to mean 'sex', we use it to mean 'gender identity'. There are definitely only two sexes, plus hermapdrodites which are basically inbetween. However how masculine or feminine you are is not binary. So in this sense, there are not just two genders Its amazing how many people just yell at each other and never really realise they aren't talking about the same thing.

Honestly, who cares? One, two, one thousands, as long as someone is a half decent person who cares what gender they are? There are bigger issues out there to take care of than fighting over how many genders there are.

Generally, two genders. There are genetic abnormalities, but those are rare outliers. I understand that gender roles are social constructs, with attributes assigned to each gender. But even with genetic abnormalities, male and female are still the standard and rule.

As many as there are likes on this post. Which, after I liked it, was two

1 ResponderI can understand if people feel they are not one of the two main genders, but I think it is getting to the point people want to be a different gender because they want to feel like they are special and not part of the norm. I am not talking about people that feel they are male or female even if they are not that biologically. Just seems to be many different identities out there.

7 RespostasEditado por Samantha: 12/6/2017 7:44:56 AMTo be honest, this is a psychology question. Psychology is the field that everyone without a doctorate likes to waltz around in, pretending that they know how the human brain works. It's alarming, really. The mind's machinery is an impossibly complicated field of study. Yet too many people (often with various mental complexes that I won't bother venturing into) without any post-secondary scientific education whatsoever believe themselves qualified to talk. The problem is that the brain and how it works isn't superficial. One can say "I have a birthmark on my forearm" and a quick examination of that person's forearm would reveal whether they were lying or not. The brain is beneath the surface, shielded from human eyes, and it speaks in a language that only its body (and no one else's) understands. One can say "I'm transgender" and there's no forearm to examine. But humans have these faulty machines called "bullshit detectors" that they bring out whenever questions turn psychological in nature. I'm not transgender but I've struggled with depression. Even people that mean well tell me to just "think happy thoughts", when it's hardly that simple. When it comes to the brain, people just don't quite understand anything that they haven't experienced. I don't understand the mental state a transgender person is in, and people don't quite seem to understand depression unless they've gone through it themselves. None of this is the issue. The issue is when people, with little to no knowledge, attempt to make conclusions in spite of their utter inexperience in the field. I mean, we don't even quite comprehend the simple 1s-and-0s concept of the two-gender system, much less the chemicals and chemical reactions responsible for feminine or masculine behavior, or the reasons that those two main behavioral traits may or may not be found in their respective genders. We've sent people to the Moon. We've explored some of the deepest parts of the ocean. Charted the entire planet and put it on maps of all shapes and sizes. And yet we are still decades or even centuries away from fully exploring the human brain.
