Right now I just don't know
I'm gonna be buying D2 for sure, it's already pre-ordered but here's the thing. As of right now and in the weeks that have preceded the Beta, I just don't know if I'm gonna play it.
It's not that it was a bad Beta, it just didn't have that magic gunplay D1 has, it felt clunky, not fluid, forcefully slower. The skill trees being 2 set options also disappointed me hugely. I've played a little D1 since and honestly it just felt so much better even down to small things like the gun and ability sounds. I don't know, I'm just not like HYYYYYYPED about it at all.
Anyone else?
I think making each class move at the same speed was a big mistake, movement was one of the things that made playing each class feel that little bit different. In D2 I felt like if I was playing one class I was playing them all.

Like you I'm definitely going to get it, but if it's always going to feel like it did in the beta, I'm not sure how much I'll actually play it. And yeah I know the game at launch will be different from the beta, but it will most likely always [i]feel[/i] the same

11 RespostasWell, I for one actually loved the beta just as it was. In the strike the boss felt engaging, with several different behaviors and strategies. Obviously we couldn't melt him, he's a strike boss. Plus, part of the length of time it took to defeat the boss was due to lack of power ammo drops, so I'd imagine most people saved it till the final stage to deal good final dps. I wouldn't mind getting my super a bit more often in pve, sure, but I still had fun. PvP was everything I ever wanted the crucible in destiny 1 to be. It was completely team oriented, encouraging team shots and giving anyone that helped kill a player credit for the kill and the super energy bonus that goes with it. It forced you to think about when and how to use your super too, because energy weapons did more damage to players using super abilities and for the most part if the other team was decent they would have supers too. This made a good super use feel game-changing, and the rarity of seeing supers made them feel special to use. Every ability had its uses and synergy too. Warlocks provided a group heal or damage buff, titans provided a defensive wall, and hunters got dodge abilities with multiple different effects. Arc strider had my favorite synergy actually. [b]Basically if you used the dodge, your melee range was increased and it recharged your melee. Then, successful melee kills triggered health regen, increased melee damage, and recharged your dodge ability.[/b] That's actually pretty [b][u]incredible[/u][/b]. Most people just didn't think about how to use it

1 ResponderSo .. you were not happy with the state of the beta but you're still buying anyway? How DUMB is that? Why not buy the game later if you have a change of heart? It's people like you that encourage developers to do whatever they want cause there will be fools like you who buy their shit anyway.

1 ResponderDoesn't matter if you play it. Once you've bought it, Bungie got what they want. Who cares if you play it once and quit? Oh then a new dlc comes out and you try that too and lose interest. So what?

A lot of what they decided to do differently seemed like they were just doing it for the sake of being different.... not actually in our interest or to be better. It's like they asked themselves, "are the other FPS Shooters doing this? no? okay we'll do that then!" The whole having 2 primaries thing is just ridiculous to me. And as much as I hated people who use shotguns, moving them, snipers and fusions to the heavy slot is kind of goofy to me. Plus it looks like they're going to get rid of Rumble and Clash and do 4 V 4 across the board.... even though I'm a primarily PVE player, when I did go into PVP, it was for clash, and now I feel like I have no reason to play PVP whatsoever. And yes, I definitely feel like they're trying to make every class the same, every engagement the same, which sounds boring as hell. I feel like they're watering down the Space Magic side of Destiny for more, straight Gunplay. And the Space Magic side is what drew me into the game in the first place. it's what set it apart from other FPS shooters.

1 ResponderSame. Didn't enjoy the beta. Don't care for the loadout in pve. I was crushed, actually....still am. This is my fave game and now I feel that D2 is jst not psyching me up at all...I am not looking forward to D2 at all...and the feeling is difficult to explain.

Yeah I'm feeling the same way, my biggest worry is that Bungie have put so much of a focus on trying keep the balance equal for the sake of PvP that the game play is gonna be very dull and boring in PvE. I play this game mainly for the PvE and raids. As that's what set it apart from all the other fps titles out there.

1 ResponderOnly change is subtle difference to heavy ammo and super recharge rate. Subtle means basically no change. The beta was the actual finished game.

We'll find out on the 6th. Besides, there will be tons of patches inbound to appease whiners. You know that. I'm not worried at all. I'm looking forward to playing.

4 RespostasI'm absolutely with you here. Between losing all of our D1 gear (yeah, I'm one of [i]those [/i] guys) the change to only 4x4 in Crucible, the weapon loadouts system, the removal of randomized weapon perks, our classes' skimpier skill trees, and then playing the beta (clunky and slow absolutely describe what we got), I am definitely not pre-ordering and all my hype went out the window. I will be watching the reviews after release, however. I'd like to play this game, I WANT to enjoy this game. I adored D1 and really got a lot of enjoyment and forged new friendships playing it. This initially feels like a vastly different and inferior sequel. Time will tell, however. I do hope we all get the game we've been wishing for. One thing I fully admit to liking is the fleshing out of the story with more cinematics, but that's all I'm looking forward to right now.

I'm still gonna play it, but unless they have some tricks up their sleeve with regards to weapon/ armour options then this game isn't going to last more than a week or so for me. I found beta quite boring......and that's sad.

Not worth it at all dude. Just look at the forum at any given moment; there is always at least one thread, if not many, complaining about an issue in the game that has been around for a while and has not been fixed. Believe me when I say that Destiny 2 isn't going to be any different!

Me and my two buddies went back and forth during the beta and we all felt that D1 felt significantly better. D2 looks better for sure, but it lacks that buttery feel of D1.

Very disappointed. If I were you, cancel the preorder and just pick it up from your local gamestop/game and try it out, you can always return it later if you so choose to do.

I may get it next year if there's a GoTY ed. or something but I've lost too much faith in Bungie to ever pay full price for any of their games ever again. edit - and without dedicated servers and a separation of PvE/PvP weapon tuning I doubt I'll ever buy another game in the franchise to be honest.

10 RespostasWhy would you buy something that is not out yet? Would you buy bread before its baked? How about a car before its manufactured? Games are one of the few purchases were people lose their mind and buy before its even know if its good. Not only that but we knowingly buy an incomplete game. Its like buying a car without rear mirrors...those are extra. We all wanna be in the "in-crowd" and play when everyone else is. For that we are willing to pay whatever and be subjected to price gouging. What makes it worse is we are excited about it.

7 RespostasI'm with you. I felt an overwhelming sense of boredom playing the Beta. I played every mode one time, and I just couldn't do it anymore. I fired it up a day later, wandered the menu, and turned it off. I couldn't make myself want to play it. The Beta was missing the magic that made Destiny what it was. I'm gonna buy it, because all my friends want me to, but I have less than zero excitement about this game. My excitement level is in the extreme negatives. Bungie is great at gunplay, good at story, but one of the worst in the world at managing a game after release. I think that has a lot to do with why I didn't like the Beta. Bungie's horrible reputation at managing a fantastic game; their amazing ability to turn Gold into Feces.
