Motivation for why you doubt evolution very important...
Once, Habilis believed many arguments that claimed to disprove evolution: irreducible complexity of cells, missing fossils, fact that no one sees evolution happening. Habilis believed these and many others. Thought whole world was covered in big flood, which made all fossils. Habilis believed all this because he believed (and still believes) in god. The idea that evolution might be true was idea that seemed impossible.
But no matter what Habilis told himself in those days, the ultimate reason Habilis doubted evolution was because he thought evolution would destroy basic parts of faith. If evolution true, then Genesis just a story. Not real history. If evolution true ,then Jesus would seem less real.
Yet slowly, Habilis realized the problems with many arguments against evolution and that claimed to be good science. These arguments had fundamental problems. Then, Habilis began to learn about what evolution is, and how it works. The material view of how the material universe works made sense.
The reason habilis talks about these things is because he sees many arguing against evolution by using science, and saying evolution is bad theory. By itself, this argument is not bad: it is always good to question established ideas. However, the motivation for these questions IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT.
To people who doubt evolution Habilis asks this: would you have any reason to doubt evolutionary theory to be good science if you did not believe god? If you were atheist? The reason Habilis asks is because this impacts argument that evolution is bad science. If you say evolution is bad science, that argument should be based on science. But if you ask that question because evolution first conflicted with faith - then your questions are about faith, not science. Habilis feels that many arguments for creation "science" mask the real intent of the arguments themselves.

6 RespostasAs an atheist, I haven't seen definitive proof that evolution has occurred. I'm not ruling it out entirely, but science can be corrupt in practice.

3 RespostasDifferentiation within a species, possibly even a genus, due to how small some of those groupings are is happening every day. A banana evolving into a turtle is not. There are too many design elements featured in our biological world to deny a design and life itself shows it. But yes, microevolution is happening as we speak.

8 RespostasWhy does my understanding of evolution matter? Why do my beliefs matter to others? Honestly? Who gives a shit, and why?

I have to say that I have no clue. Evolution is possible. Big space magic grandpa is possible. Intelligent design is possible. I choose to see the possible & not be a close-minded douchenozzle, because then when it turns out that we are all just bacteria on the ass of a giant sea-going space turtle, I will just say cool & go back to living my life

1 ResponderWell let's look at the facts: Creationism: *Poof* universe magically appears by a magical creature with no proof of existence. Evolution: Millions of years of slowly evolving creatures backed by science. Hmm...

I'm an agnostic, though I believe in evolution. I think that a god could exist, but I believe wholeheartedly that none of humanity's religions are accurate.

I am Christian and I believe in both.

I am an agnostic jew and I don't believe in evolution law.

31 RespostasSo, just to be clear, evolutionists want me to believe that: 1. Logic, reason, morality and sentiment all are "superior" traits for any life in any environment, but somehow only homosapiens have developed it in any measure at all, whilst every other life form current known to exist not only displays the same lack of any of these traits in any measure, but all use a very similar instinctive, behavioural response to stimuli with little variation. 2. Despite the fact that there is a near ever-present, literal pattern(Fibonacci Ratio) that can be found in the structure most forms of life on Earth that is often visible to the naked eye, this is completely coincidental and in no way evokes an intelligent design. 3. The theory of evolution supports the notion that genetic mutations that introduce superior traits allow a being to have a survival edge through natural selection, which continues the process of evolution. However, if one is to look at a human condition that has changed over time(such as lifespan) it can easily be seen that we do not always improve(Living longer) but there are much more ups and downs in the survivability of humanity. This doesn't contradict the natural selection process at all. 4. None of this is far fetched at all. Yea, I still wouldn't believe in evolution.

Editado por THUNDERCHILD: 5/16/2017 11:28:12 PMWhat makes evolution great is the fact that no "belief" is required, anyone can verify the fossil evidence for themselves, if they're brave enough. I've gathered a few resources here for anyone interested. First up is Berkeley's Understanding Evolution 101. It starts out very simple so even the most indoctrinated can get their first grasp of the subject. http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/article/evo_01 Below is a 3 part BBC documentary called Your Inner Fish, it starts before our ancestors left the water. The second epidode, Your Inner Reptile, starts where the first left off, and the third, Your Inner Monkey, brings us up to date. Your Inner Fish https://youtu.be/E8ttoKGxEKc Your Inner Reptile https://youtu.be/Dn6dR814qo8 Your Inner Monkey https://youtu.be/2NxjLJR9EFw Next is a wonderful National Geographic documentary called Morphed: When Whales Had Legs. It follows whale evolution from when they were wolf like land creatures to the cetaceans we know today. https://youtu.be/-OCMx2VuP1U Below is a bit of Berkeley whale info backing up the documentary http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/article/evograms_03 Here is a nifty whale evolution animation from the Smithsonian Institute http://ocean.si.edu/ocean-videos/evolution-whales-animation

I have the feeling this is an insightful post. Yet I'll never be able to get myself through multiple paragraphs of that awful gimmick. So much cringe.

47 RespostasLet me ask you a question. Where exactly is the "scientific proof" of evolution? Cause i have looked and i do not see anything that proves that Evolution is real. It is simply something a man made up in his spare time. And even he decided, on his death bed, that it had been a stupid idea
-
6 RespostasI didn't realize that they clashed. Evolution doesn't make faith have less value or Jesus seem any less real. That's just a personal view. For me? Well. I personally think things like evolution, the Big Bang theory, etc are just silly. Like for real? People think we spontaneously poofed out of nowhere, into whatever plane of existence this is, then grew from cells into fish, then some wired doggo, then a humanoid, then an ape, then some funko man, then humans? No thanks. I believe we were created. God? Sure. Aliens? Ok I'm down. The government? Well I'm not opposed. .... Evolution and Big Bang? I'll pass.

4 RespostasEditado por Boggy: 5/16/2017 12:37:08 PMBoggy thinks that Atheists should doubt everything until they have found actual evidence and have reviewed it's arguments extensively before actually accepting it as truth, even if that thing is supported by pop science. If Boggy accept anything Boggy is told then Boggy is just as good as the religious people the Atheists stereotype.

10 RespostasWell, if one were to believe things do not evolve over time how would they explain how one species thrives with a specific diet and is crippled by another? Two sloths One sloth gets good food The other gets shitty food First sloth has babies who also eat good food Second has babies that eat shitty food Repeat Evolution cannot say which one evolves away from the other and predict how, but it can say that inevitably if you keep up these diets changes will occur.

You can actually kinda see evolution happening in antibiotic resistant bacteria

I agree with this. Science and Religion can co-exist pretty well if you think about it enough.
