Destiny for me has been one of the games that has changed the way I go about my days for 2 years now. I've met some great people here on the forums and in the game, but my love for this game and gaming in general is dying. Very quickly
I remember playing halo 3 for the first time, it was love at first sight, i knew this was the franchise that I was gong to dive into, get better at, dedicate my play to, when 2009 came around i got Halo 1 custom edition on my pc and I played that for 3 years, I knew halo 3 was amazing, so I gave the original a try, to this day halo 1 is my favorite game of all time
For me halo was a way to get away from the reality of life, the money problems at home, the bullies at school who beat me up and called me names for being different and the terrors of social isolation and nobody to talk to when my father was gone and my mother was to busy working. I was never accepted by my peers from a long time, but halo was the game that let me have fun with other people. I found happiness in this game where I could not find it anywhere else.
My love for halo was infinite but bungie has since let go of their child, ever since 343 made the lobotomized halo 4 and 5, i have been longing for a true halo game, my favorite franchise has become so much different that the game is fell in love it with, and i don't even recognize it anymore
When I learned of bungies new game destiny, i was happy that bungie would still give their fans a game they can love, and while halo fell from grace, i trusted bungie to make yet another game i would fall in love with
Destiny has been one of my favorite games to play like but the game has had glaring issues that have never been adressed or fixed, and certain problems have arrived from things that should have never been touched
The crucible was immediately reminiscent of the halos I loved, while being completely new and fresh, but nerfs and changes have since changed the game for the worse, and I'm truly losing hope that the crucible will ever be enjoyable again
Pve has been great, it was exiting getting new armor and weapons to play with, but changes to perks, not separate balance, and a loot system that still has not been fixed are truly frustrating. I remember being exited every time I got a legendary, it's truly disappointing to go into the raid, with the intention of getting infusion food, rather than getting meaningful gear)
Remember how great the loot system was in house of wolves? How everything was relavent? Scrapped
Remember how great pvp was in vanilla destiny? Where every weapon saw usage? Thrown put the window
Story? Still isint there
I criticize the game because I want to see it do better, I love this game like the rest of you, but our founding fathers never accepted things the way they were,
I want to love this game the same way I did during the golden age vanilla crucible
And the meaningful raids and gear of house of wolves, but this game has only gone backward and I have yet to see improvement
If i see one more wave of mostly nerfs that ruin many people's favorite weapons, and affect the pve players strategies, i will throw down my weapons, and honestly probably quit shooting games, because destiny is one of the last games without watered down mechanics, it's unfortunate everything else is
My favorite franchise halo has been long gone in my gaming life, destiny has filled that void for 2 years but some of the poor decisions have truly hurt my love for this game, and gaming in general
I've put so many hours into this game, and when bungie has only showed me that they only listen to those who see no wrong with the game, or ignore community feedback and do something completely opposing the community, then what's the point?
I'm on the edge of leaving, how about you?
Edit: not my Gamertag has echoed my thoughts extremely well, including nascar, nobody is talk to likes nascar

Why do I keep playing Destiny?
It's not that as great as I'd hoped, but it's the closest to the KIND of game that I want that's out there.
Sci Fi setting? Check
I enjoy the "style" of the setting? Check
RPG-elements including custom gear and such? Check
Fun gunplay? Check
Somewhat open instead of on rails? Check
Raids? Check
Can randomly encounter other players? Check
PvP is "adequate"? Check
Halo is too on-rails for the PvE. Borderlands X isn't MMO enough (even less than Destiny). The Division isn't Sci Fi. No Man's Sky isn't that great.
In some ways, it's like dating. You're never going to find someone that checks of 100% of the checkboxes from your dream mate. You're never going to find an Anna Silk lookalike that's into you and XBox gaming and likes NASCAR and ....
But if you find someone you have fun with and click well enough with, then does it really matter?
5 RespostasDestiny honestly isn't that bad. I mean come freaking on, quiting gaming because of this one stupid game? Seriously? Destiny isn't about you or what you want it to be. Bungie did something new. They pioneered a new type of FPS (borrowing mechanics and techniques from other genres of course). But Destiny is now the standard of what other game should be. You always hear now: "Fallout will kill Destiny" "Can't wait for the Division so everyone stops playing Destiny" "No Man's Sky is coming, goodbye Destiny" For two years that's all we have heard. Yet, somehow going on year 3 and Destiny is still full steam ahead barreling through all competition. Is it perfect? Not by any means. But is it a fun, stressful adventure that continues to grow and build on itself, HECK YES.

Just quit. Crawl off the hamster wheel. Climb out of the Skinner box. Stop pulling the slot-machine lever. The game will never give you what you want. The game will never be what you want. The game will soak up as much of your time as you allow it to, and it won't even give you real enjoyment. Did you enjoy gaming with your friends? Find another game to play with them. Like FPS games? Look for a new one or pull out an old favorite. Or take a break from gaming for a while. But as far as Destiny is concerned, Just. Stop. 1 ResponderI always quit during the summer and enjoy the outdoors. Late this summer I hopped on when I found out I needed to complete the mountaintop quest for my Moments of Triumph and I had 15 sterling boxes in the postmaster. That's roughly a 4 month hiatus. Destiny is always going to make your inventory obsolete and favorite weapons less effective. You'll never reach the peak of Destiny. It's a never-ending mountain with plateau's along the way. Don't wear yourself out between climbs!

1 ResponderNah, I agree with you mate. RoI is the final test for me if I continue with this series.

2 RespostasBye then. If one game makes or breaks you being a gamer, than I highly doubt you can even call yourself a gamer. SO enjoy destiny, I'm sure in ten years or so you wont be gaming anymore anyways. Since all games have a shelf life........destiny isn't an exception.

1 ResponderI'm on the edge of leaving but for a little bit of a different reason. I'm such a completionist, everytime a new DLC releases of make sure to get all the new grimoire because yes, I'm a super grimoire hunter that always tries to stay at maxed, I'd search for a good team for raids that knew what they were doing, I'd try to stay on top of everything. I used to have a lot of time for Destiny, but since around the time TTK released, most of my good Destiny friends quit, I moved to a new state so I'm getting a new job soon and won't have time for Destiny like I used to, and I always remember my friends with jobs complaining about how they wished they had time for Destiny and how they're always late to everything since nobody would help them after they finish what they needed on reset. I know I've heard RoI is the last DLC for Destiny, I feel it might be the last Destiny game for me too, even if they come out with Destiny 2. I've just lost so many friends and honestly I'm not even that excited for RoI. I just preordered it because Destiny is such a big part of my life, I met my Boyfriend that I now live with on Destiny so giving it up feels kinda weird, but I might, all our good friends have left, nobody really seems interested in forming new groups and honestly, it might be time to move on but it was a GREAT 3 years Bungie.
sorry if this was super long AHHH
17 RespostasOrpheus, I myself have had similar thoughts at times. There are days where I turn on the system and debate if I want to even bother turning something on, or I just leave it turned on but not actually play anything. Destiny has been the only game that has caused me on occasion to seriously stop having fun in gaming in general. Seriously I don't know what it is, maybe it's the constant nerfs of guns that happen to be in the same family as the "OP" ones. Maybe the lack of content is boring me to that point, maybe some other reason. But it did have the effect of when I did actually pop in witcher 3 or DA:I, I just couldn't bring myself to play them, shut down the system and called it a day. I couldn't figure out why nothing suddenly seemed fun to me out of no where. What I did was take a break. Limited my time to doing other things most of the week, and limiting gaming to a day or two tops during the week, and that's if I felt like playing at all. Eventually I was able to have fun in gaming again, but it took time for that to happen. Eventually I figured out just what the main issue was for the most part, and started approaching gaming a bit differently. Best think you can do is take breaks, and see where it goes. Its the best advice I can give you to find the fun again, if at all.
-
I say definitely take a break. The lull from the April Update to a couple of weeks ago when everyone in my clan got hyped for Rise of Iron really gave me a break from the burnout and I've returned to the game with a renewed sense of excitement. I do love Destiny, it's been my main game on PS4 for 2 years and I've met some amazing people. Yes, it's had a tough time of it but I think Bungie have really gained some important experience and it is getting better. Ditching last-gen is a great step forward and I can only get more hyped for Destiny 2 being what it always should have been. Also, the more it's delayed, the better, in my eyes. I want them to release it as close to perfect and without having to scrap everything like they did with D1 only weeks before launch.

Editado por AutobotALX: 9/19/2016 5:37:27 AMWait until destiny 2 comes out, the reason destiny is what it looks like today is because cross platform development of last gen systems that really hindered the idea and vastness of the games potential. But I get where you come from, do what makes you happy.
-
3 RespostasIm with you there. Not much is holding my attention or capturing my imagination. But in less than 2 mos skyrim will launch for next gen with mod capabilities. So ill dabble in some games i got with games with gold and ill get thru till 10/28.

1 ResponderWell we won't know entirely what Destiny could truly become. We are finally going to see a destiny without legacy consoles. ROI will decide how I play destiny again.

9 RespostasI feel for you. But in a different way than you might think I do. I feel for you as to what you said about your social life - mum, dad, friends, etc. I think, you should definitely quit gaming, at least for a longer while. Games, to me, are deemed to be a hobby, if anything else in life is in good order. It might sound harsh to you, but that is where your issues seem to lie. You can always work on the quality of your life, and there are many people/organizations to provide help with that. Best of luck!

4 RespostasI guarantee you another big nerf wave is on the way 2-3 weeks after the DLC drop. Here are the things I think they'll nerf.
*classes -Titan Juggernaut, shoulder charge and L.nade -Warlock thander strike, axion bolt and storm trance range -Hunter Smoke bomb and skip nades *weapons -HRoF pulses -HRoF AR -TLW -Highest impact shotguns -they will glitch a Fusion nerf -Scouts *Perks -Rifle barrel will be gone from Hand Cannons to nerf E.luna -Range finder will gone from shotguns -all short scopes from snipers
I hate nerfs but I've seen Bungie do these nerf waves over and over to think this what will be happening in the near future.
-
2 RespostasDon't give up on other companies and games just cause Bungie made a hollow triangle scheme of a game
-
1 ResponderTake some 30-90 day breaks from Destiny....worked great for me.
-
Hmm, I'd say easy decision: If you're not having fun anymore while playing it, don't play it anymore (games should be fun in the first place IMO). Maybe take a break and check in later again. Bungie has changed substantially since Halo 1; from my experience, product quality declines, if companies get too big as they put their focus on money primarily.

There's always Nintendogs

4 RespostasHate to say it, but you may as well leave now. An entire new vaults worth of weapons is coming and NONE of them have been balanced yet. It takes months to compile weapon stats and then they have to fine tune them.
-
3 RespostasJust quit then. Why make an attention seeking post about it?
-
The reason that they don't change anything is because we keep giving them money. They have become accustomed to a certain lifestyle while giving us less and less. Hell, they TOOK AWAY the fun guns and are even using one that was taken away to persuade people to preorder.

15 RespostasThe difference between enjoying the Halo series and Destiny are 2 things. Halo had a story and pvp had guns that were equal for all on stable servers. Destiny needs to move forward with some serious stories. I think ROI is a start and I hope it's major in D2 PVP will never be balanced because of the large amount of different weapons and super combos. And the connection issues still plague the users experience. Destiny has always been a unique and ambitious plan for a game. If flexibility and change is hard for some people to adapt. Long term this game will likely burn you out if you're obsessed with what was. One of the biggest contributors to this burnout is rng and the mental ups and downs that reward system provides in this game. Rewards in Reach were given based on game play. The more you played the more you were rewarded. Destiny keeps you hooked by leaving rewards elusive. This creates an environment where people don't think the game is fair. Red bars always win. Lowest wins player gets rewards, while the most wins often times dont. And people are left frustrated with what appears to have failed weapons and supers. As soon as you let that go. Enjoy the game play. Not become obsessed with rewards. It allows you to enjoy the game for what it is. I walk a fine line with that logic. I chase the rewards but I also understand the limitations of the game. I try to balance that by taking breaks and playing other games.
