I would not trade those things. you may be willing to forgo good games just to play with your friends, and more power to you. But, doing so will obviously drag down the game for everyone else. And I really hope they don't degrade this game's quality just so a minority amount of people can play it split screen at drastically reduced quality. I want a game that pushes my console to its limits. And one with split-screen, inherently can not in single player, because it has to be designed to run in split screen. I play my games with people who I play games with. They either have the game, or we don't play it together when we play.

  • See you keep making it sound like split screen drastically reduces the quality of a game, but that's just not accurate. And if it was, you wouldn't be here, because halo would be behind the curve. You see, good game design is not strictly about how much power engineers can give the engine, how many objects can be displayed at once, or how many options you can give the ai to use. In fact, it is entirely possible for these sorts of things to damage the design of a game, by getting the designers to focus on using their new toys, rather than being effective. In fact, a lot of good design involves accepting the fact that you have limited resources, and spending your time "cheating" those resources into a simple but clever facade to keep people entertained. So when I say I don't care if some of these superficial "advantages" are sacrificed for split screen, it is because I understand that these things are not what makes a game good. Whereas slightly more powerful engines can be nice to have, the impact having other people in real time interact in the game with you, has a greater effect on the game by an order of magnitude, as any form of a computer will never be able to match the input of the complexity of a real human player. Not sure why you can't grasp the concept of wanting to branch out, and play a game with a friend that might not have that game, unless your friendships are based strictly on specific games, which would be unfortunate, and i sincerely suggest trying to mix up what games you are playing with your friends, you'll have a blast.

  • Halo did suffer for split screen, and i did say that. But they did it to where they pushed the game too far for multiplayer, so singeplayer didn't suffer as much. (Frame rate drops are very noticeable. But, competitive is different than coop. Coop is more resource intensive. So while Halo's competitive multiplayer didn't suffer as much, the coop most definitely did. But you can noticeably see problems in Halo when splitscreening. But nothing I'm going to say is going to make you have any kind of revelation, so I'm done anyway.

  • I play the hell out of split screen. I've never seen these "noticeable frame rate drops" you mention. It amuses me that you complain I have no revelation, while you ignore 90% of my commentary. If you paid attention, you would see that it's not just about a resource issue that we seem unable to come to a proper concensus on, it's about the fact that such resource issues mean practically nothing in terms of having a well made game.
