This is a dealbreaker for me. It is probably the most important part of the game if you have siblings. My twin brother and I are limited a lot to games with splitscreen. Other games (Battlefield for example) I can't play ever because we both want to play at the same time.

I dearly hope Bungie includes a 2 player co-op slit-screen but I don't think it will have the luxury of slit screen but I'm sill hoping that it will have slit-screen and if they don't include this they will lose buyers lose fans and if the game is fault-less with out it I guess it will be OK Bungie don't fail me or I will no longer be a fan of Bungie... it's your choice Bungie don't let us down! Sparten steve singing out...

6 RepliesEdited by Canuckian01: 2/25/2013 10:41:33 PMYes. One of the main reasons that I believe Halo was so popular is that you could play it with 3 of your buddies all in the same room. It really is a shame that most games seem to have turned away from split-screen. Thinking back to the original Xbox days, games like PGR2, Crimson Skies and countless other games featured 4 player split screen, and that's what made them such fun games to play with friends. Developers always say how they can't provide split-screen while maintaining high resolution, frame-rate, etc. I always thought that was a poor excuse. Go ahead, reduce the quality of the visuals for split-screen. If games could be playable in 4 player split screen 10 years ago, there is no reason why with modern hardware we shouldn't be able to have a similar experience today. I understand that Destiny is not your typical multiplayer game. But nonetheless, I believe providing split-screen support (or alternatively, multiple people on the same screen if that makes more sense in the context of the game), will increase its appeal, particularly among more casual gamers as well as people who play games regularly with friends in social settings (i.e. not online). EDIT: I realize that Destiny is supposedly online-only. However, my point still stands that I believe split-screen will greatly enhance the multiplayer experience.

Some good times was just hanging out jumping on Halo 2 and 3 after a night out munching out and play 4 player split screen leisurely for fun. Main reason why I purchase Bungie games.

2 RepliesI would be surprised and just a smidge disappointed if they didn't have at least two player split screen. Split screening with friends is one of the things I've always most appreciated about Bungie games.
-
1 ReplyI can see the multiplayer(PvP) being split screen, but I doubt that the open world experience will be split screen.
-
I have a feeling they're going to do everything they can do to make it split screen. Looks like there are going to be a lot of disappointed people if they don't, and a smaller community because of it. That's the last thing they want.

1 ReplyEdited by Spiritus Phoenix: 2/25/2013 2:31:15 AMAlthough it is becoming a widespread problem these days, I don't...think....Bungie would deprive us of splitscreen. In their old Halo ViDocs they always talked about how the best thing about Halo was sitting around playing with your buddies in the same room. And it is! As such a fun-lovin', community-driven studio, Bungie wouldn't do that to us... Bungie have always been ahead of things with splitscreen, so I'm not worried.

4 RepliesIn a game that it is described as,
"designed from the ground up to be better when you play it with your friends. You can have solitary cinematic experiences, but Destiny is built from the ground up to be cooperative."
I think it is a safe bet to assume that there will be at least 2 player split screen.

1 ReplyEdited by Sri-LanKING: 2/25/2013 1:13:13 PMI really want this (if possible 4 player split screen as I'll be the only one of my friends to get this game), but I doubt they'll implement it seeing as it'll probably mess with the network (ie lag)
-
Split Screen Co-op still needs to be a thing for this game. It's basically a "thing" for Bungie, and if the get rid of it I am going to be really surprised and saddened.
-
I just want at least 2 player split screen online, seperate character profiles and the whole thing damn it.

1 ReplyEdited by Toxix: 2/24/2013 9:16:01 PMAgreed. Also, if they release Destiny for PC (which they definitely should), they should add split-screen the same way Valve did for their games. I have a 47" TV connected to my computer, and split screen on it with wireless Xbox controllers would be gorgeous. Bungie pls.
-
I think it might be possible on next gen but on current gen... Naaaahhh.

13 RepliesEdited by ArcGuard: 2/25/2013 1:58:26 AMGoing to be the odd-man out here, but I don't think they'll do it - And I don't really want them to. The reason being - if you have split-screen, you have to do between 1 to 2 times the amount of work as normal. So, the game can't take full advantage of the resources without problems. A good example being - Play Halo 4 solo BTB. Play halo 4 split-screen BTB. Alone, you'll experience no issues. Split screen, you experience framerate lag in congested areas. So they'd either have to develop it with split-screen in mind (meaning solo wouldn't be pushed to its limits), or split screen would suffer from framerate issues.
-
Hard to say since this game is going to heavily rely on being connected at all times. Most likely they will have some form of split screen but with many restrictions or maybe part of an offline mode, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.
-
1 ReplyI would expect they would. Bungie has historically been a supporter of the split screen.
-
Yeah, I raised this point in another thread, ( here if you so desire) but I have a feeling many people have this worry. I don't think we can say for sure whether this game will be splitscreen or not, with the large scope it is trying to encompass and all, but with Bungie's track record, I think they will try their best to try and make it a local coop experience.
-
Based on how games nowdays have splitscreen co-op, I'm pretty sure that they will include that in Destiny
-
I want split-screen COOP too! Pls!
-
-
My brother and I do the same thing, and i love split screen game modes so family and friends who dont play the game or are hanging out with others can play destiny with regular players.
-
Third. Its getting harder and harder to find good games these days that allow split screen (at least on Xbox, not sure about PS).
-
Seconded.
