The worst part is Bungie doesn't seem to really care why certain subclasses are performing the way they are. Stormcaller and Blade Dancer will get nerfs, when really it's their ability to shotgun whore that is the problem. They just need to remove the high impact high range shotgun archetype and leave universal remote behind or make it play by special ammo rules. They're fun, but that's what is allowing those subclasses to rise to the top.
Edit:
Really it would be alright if they inverted the shotgun archetypes. Long range rifles have the lowest impact, so you can't blink into a OHK or get the thunderstrike/shotty wombo.

I agree with the rest, but I disagree with what you said about universal remote. The reason why it has high ammo is because it is weaker than other shotguns in all stats- it has the impact and range of a low impact archetype, only boosted by its main perk, but has the rate of fire of a high impact archetype. Beyond that, it forces you into an awkward position with regards to weaponry. Pair it with a sniper, and your mid range is lacking. Pair it with a fusion rifle, which is tough enough to use anyway, and your long range is lacking. I think it is fine where it is.

I think it has a good amount of ammo in its mag/reserve, it just becomes problematic that it's the only shotgun that always spawns with full ammo. I'm not sure how to balance, but that makes it insanely easy to frustratingly abuse. Also, on many maps, lack of long game is irrelevant

It has to have full ammo. If you changed it to not have full ammo, or rely on special ammo, than you would have plenty of situations where you literally have no weapons that you can fire. You should always be able to use a gun and shoot it, no matter what.

But isn't that the exact draw back you choose when selecting not to have an actual primary weapon?

Edited by KaratekAlan: 7/24/2016 12:18:49 AMFor forcing yourself into an awkward position, yes. But for ammo, because it goes in the primary slot, it is the gun that you should use most of the time (like other actual primaries, hand cannons, pulse rifles, etc.) and should have tons of ammo as such. Especially considering it is not effective at mid range or long range, like the no land beyond, which does run out of ammo somewhat quickly, it should have enough ammo to always be usable at close range.
