I'm sure there are people out there who are deadly with the Hunter's throwing knives. Maybe enough to call it an unfair advantage to be called a "one hit kill".. I get that, but is a blink strike a one hit kill? Almost always.. Is a shoulder charge a one hit kill?.. Most definitely. Flame shield?.. Yeah😒.. Then I start to pull my hair out and demand it to be a one hit kill.
I get the balance issues.. But let's take the Hunter for what it is.. Weaker than the other class by design. Uses its agility to traverse the battle field with stealth and quickness its strongest allies. The Hunter has not shield if any sort.. (If I'm wrong, please tell me so I can equip it as soon as possible) I'm not complaining 99% of the time.. I'm playing the damn game. I enjoy this game, I want it to be fun. But it's not fun when I'm trading with a Warlock in and out of cover and they already have a shield that I chew up (with my dis 43) plus a little chunk of their health bar.. I pop out of cover to throw a knife, it lands solid upper torso.. I wait.. No kill, fight still on. So I attack, I rush with almost full health turn the corner get only to be melee'd and turn into particles red matter.. It was a good time for a break anyways.
That happened about 25 minutes ago.. I mean.. Really?.. I'm throwing a foot long dagger that has to be calculated almost perfectly with the distance and elevation required to get a headshot.. I hope you guys care, it's not worth it to commit to throw the knives if you know they have no reward. It's the hardest melee to learn with the least benefit. That's not fun. Take another look at the gunslinger's throwing knives.. Thank you. Delta

Throwing knife + gernade [ not tripmine ] = kill 90% of the time for me
-
3 RepliesShoulder charge has been nerfed and no longer 1hits that is not for me and I'm 320 with my good gear.
-
Complaining that the sun singer melee is a ohk is like complaining that arc blade is a ohk. Only when the super is active and only then and that isn't a guarantee.
-
Yeah they were nerfed so you wouldn't get 1 shot in the crucible
-
Definitely agree
-
I know we hunters don't have a one shot and thats kinda cool with me. Throwing knifes are deadly af. I run 2 with the perk that lets you get it back instantly. I never run out. I've played since alpha never switching to main another class just because of some patch or new op subclass *cough Sunbreaker cough*...sorry about that had an itch in my thoat. To the dumbasses that think BD is op. Get out. One shotgun shell drops it. GG being the easiest? No. Its the arguably the 2nd most op. Sunbreaker is 1st. SB is GG on steroids. GG has no armour so snipers drop us all the same. With NS, we are a big target too. May have armour during that pull but its no team killer like Nova, Sun, Storm, FoP, or Exploding GG.

3 Replies*bungie team discussing melees* Ok, shoulder charge, perfectly fine, thunderstrike, range not too bad, throwing knives... WOAH!!! PEOPLE NEED TO WNJOY THE GAME. Every time they come around the corner and get throwing knifed. Cant have that happen anymore... Nerf them immediately
-
I will say, losing the sticky on the tripmine was a huge nerf, as others point out. But I think throwing knife is ok. I don't play hunter a lot, and don't use my throwing knife as much as I should. But I use it to finish people off before they can charge me. Usually it works.

5 RepliesEdited by Rel The Sage: 7/27/2016 3:59:40 AMJust make it so when you score a headshot it either kills them or puts their health very low.

2 RepliesHunter throwing knives are pointless and useless, hunter melee as a rule is very very weak.
-
1 ReplyI agree actually. Let the throwing knives be a one hit kill if you get a precision hit with them. That actually takes a crazy amount of skill to do in the Crucible when everything is going haywire and people are jumping up and down and all around and stuff. Ok, maybe not an ohk but perhaps enough to significantly damage them, but if they were to take like a scout rifle shot, they die. Just a thought.

17 RepliesPerfect as a main hunter I completely agree hunters are basically useless trip mine barely kills anything, skip grenades don't do anything, shade step please let's not talk about it, arc blade goes out in seconds even if I'm using mask of 3rd man and throwing knives feel like throwing a stick at a tank nothing happens
-
1 ReplyIf u havent used hunters lately, your opinion is mute. Tried playing few times with Hunter, overall, it is harder than other two. Yes, they should have buffed the dmg on the knife instead of nerfing. The agility drop after blinking, makes stab not track fast enough. The arcbolt that exolodes if it is to close to an ennwmy and barely dmg them is ???The lack of agility compared to titans is laughable. Im abandoning this class. Instead gona using voidwalker and striker. And geez i feel dirty at times using striker, with armatorium equiped, killing 3ppl right from the start in IB.
but is a blink strike a one hit kill? Almost always..
You're delusional.
Is a shoulder charge a one hit kill?.. Most definitely. Flame shield?.. Yeah😒.. You idiotic, entitled piece of huntard.
I get the balance issues.. But let's take the Hunter for what it is.. Weaker than the other class by design.
Also wrong. Edited by cycofreak3: 7/27/2016 4:33:01 AMThrowing knives have insane range, they were originally a one shot ability but that was broken as hell so it was fixed. Now it still drops alot of HP, they are supposed to require skill to be used, it's a throwing weapon. Drop some health then get a headshot or just run double knives. Hunters are still extremely strong in the crucible
-
6 RepliesSo u want a pair of ranged ohk melee that regenerates if it hits. How is that possibly balanced. It has range so it loses damage, that's why it's balanced now.
-
2 RepliesHow is a shield a OHK? If you are referring to scorch, it's only a OHK during radiance when charged, and radiance is absolutely terrible now, so it needs it desperately.
-
3 RepliesYeah but nerf trip mines.
-
88 RepliesBro Blade dancers have more armour than Titans in their super. Only thing that kills a blade dancer is either a nova bomb, fist of havoc or another hunter. Point being..... I don't have a point, you hunters have gunslinger (the easiest super to use), blade dancer (the strongest roaming super) and night stalker (everything about that class is good). So I don't understand why you hunters are still talking? Asking Titan and warlock nerfs. When by design you have the strongest, fastest characters?
-
Why do you people want to make all of the classes the same and give them the same abilities? Yes, titans have powerful abilities and they have weak abilities too. Same for warlocks, and also for hunters. We don't, however, have the same abilities because what would be the point of the three separate classes then?
-
2 RepliesSounds like hunters wanna turn throwing knives into shoulder charge, good luck ! ! !

My reply to your title
duh
1 ReplyI think hunters are fine where they are at. I have taken the time to get used to them. Hit detection for BD and even shoulder charge is a little ridiculous to me. Jumping 20 feet in the air just for an arc blade or a should charge to get you from the ground doesn't make sense to me. Throwing knife headshots require skill just like before. I'm not talking about one hit kill I mean a prime with a hand canon or something and then you throw the knife. I find every other class and sublass in great shape as well. Three things I would adjust in the sublasses (all of them arc sublass): BD vertical arc blade kill makes no sense to me. FoH vertical shoulder charge is like vertical arc blade leaves me saying WHAT?!? And a laugh all the time. And Storm Caller the thunderstrike has cosistently killed me in one hit I don't know if that is a glitch or not but I find it frustrating to be in a 1v1 just for that to happen.
-
You have a weapon that can do upto 144 in damage (with Incendiary Blade)....and essentially NO range limit if you properly track your opponent and allow for gravity. Its a FINISHING weapon....not a OHK, Get out of Jail Free weapon. ...and if you want to be assured of a OH finish move? Land your headshots. I got three throwing knife kills this weekend alone in IB. But they were all head shots.
-
With this generation of guardians that try to run in the midst of a gun fight knives are great finishers. If you don't know the secret behind the knife yet I won't say lol
-
A thrown "burning" knife to the head should be a 1 shot kill with the dot. A regular knife to the head should take full shield and 3/4 health.
