I looked at my Commemoration (raid machine gun) today. It’s been a decent replacement for my beloved Hammerhead. It sunsets at 1410.
That’s at the end of the season after next boys and girls. Why is a raid exclusive weapon being sunset when presumably the raid will still be around? Unless, of course, 4 seasons is now the life of a raid.

We're about to be in week 3 of the current season, so there's still all that's left of this season [i]and then[/i] two more full seasons. Besides, DSC is a Raid that came with an expansion, so it's pretty likely that the cap will be updated on all of your items so you don't need to farm for another roll.

If my Great Hunt armor set that I got way back during the Forsaken days is 1360 now with a Season of Arrivals emblem, and the GoS gear I have in my vault is ALSO 1360 with an arrivals emblem, Bungo will just do what they did and update the power levels. I was honestly surprised when the power levels were updated without me having to grind more, but I remember in one of the TWABs about sunsetting it was mentioned that raid gear would have a longer life cycle than everything else. Basically DSC is going to get the Last Wish/Garden of Salvation treatment and not get their power levels updated until the last second. We'll be able to hold onto what we already have, but don't expect an update just yet. EDIT: My guess is that Bungie hasn't put their power levels two years into the future yet because they're unsure on what the power levels are actually going to be those seasons. No idea what's going to happen to the Last Wish and Garden gear though, with the mess that sunsetting is. I'm already expecting the worst. Those raids could potentially still be around when their loot becomes irrelevant, and it doesn't take much effort to understand that that possibility is downright bullshit.

Apparently you can get it again this season and it'll roll with an even higher cap. Instead of capping at the start of the next expansion, raid gear obtained this season will cap at the end of the season of the next expansion. Which is just the dumbest thing ever. Had I known this, I wouldn't have grinded gear last season cause it's going to be useless for the next expansion and just grinded it this season when it'll be useful a little longer. This whole system is just garbage in that regard. Have fun grinding again for nothing more than a higher number because your time and investment isn't respected, and this is blatant proof of that.

I checked the hand cannon and shotgun that dropped yesterday. The raid weapons I’ve got this season have the same cap as the ones I got last season. If what you mentioned were true they should be higher.

Ok. Maybe I'm wrong then. I rember seeing videos of people saying it and hearing groups I've ran with mention it. Haven't done a raid myself this season yet

I didn't get a deepstonecrypt machine gun or handcannon last season, but I got one of each this season and they have 1410 cap (S15).

I admit raid weapons should be like exotics, just let us keep them.

Bullshit. Get rid of sunsetting entirely. Raid weapons already have the better perks and are target farmable. THey shouldn't get an extra treatment. Get rid of sunsetting is the only proper solution.

Ok, then what do you say to the people that dismantled gear they thought was irrelevant? What do you do about powercreep? Are you one of the asshats who thinks that it isn’t a real thing, or it isn’t a problem?

And if people delete their stuff they did it voluntarily. Their fault, not mines. "What do you do about powercreep?" There is no powercreep if you don't release stuff overpowered. That's a solution. Balance will always be important. Get rid of sunsetting! As long as sunsetting exists, Bungie gets zero Silver from me!

So you’re okay with gear being sunset before the activity goes away because there will be other things. Most people that I know are not.

Those people hate sunsetting. The FPS brains also love the new activities harbinger and presage for the atmosphere, story and gameplay including the jumping. But the MMORPG brains only care about the loot reward.

Having to re-grind God rolls of the EXACT SAME weapons that were viable 4 months ago but now return with a higher power cap Yay sunsetting.

Don't worry they'll re-issue it with new and interesting rolls so you can use even more time, sorry waste, for a sunset reward again. They even sunset the quickdraw Astral Horizon before it even got power sunset what the -blam!-.

The kind of gamers who think that in order to have fun, you’ve gotta play the game like you’re working two full time jobs on double overtime, and that if you have any semblance of a real life outside of Destiny, you’re not deserving of the rewards.
