I guess so just feel like there is a better, less corrupt, way to learn how to ‘think’ because that’s the only reason anyone seems to give for why it’s important

Only learning the things you “need” always felt like a very nearsighted perspective. I don’t know about you, but I like knowing how the world works. I’ll most likely never use what I learned in biology or chemistry ever again, but I’d rather have that understanding than have had an easier time in school. Easy don’t teach you shit.

I agree that the sciences are useful, and I acknowledge you need some math foundation to learn those. Like you said sciences help you understand how the world works and it also helps you to process information that affects your day to day life. So that is something that is needed. For example if you don’t know anything about biology you would not understand the spread of a virus, which is a tad bit important right now. So yes science is something that is necessary, you don’t need calculus to be able to do that though. Just pre algebra and you can do almost all of the math required for bio and chem.

It’s definitely frustrating. Believe me I loathed math in high school and college. It wasn’t what I needed for my major and I could already think just fine thank you very much. However I totally missed/ignored its purpose and regret doing so now...
Sorry, all out of salt.
I feel you man, and if it’s something that you value you can always go back and learn it. There are things like Khan Academy now that are great for learning mathematics and sciences, but I just think it should be optional to do so, like yes get the basics in, but for upper level maths, a lot of people already know what they want to do, and I don’t think they should be held back by subjects they don’t really need.
and a paywall if tests they don’t need too
