I've always handled the game in a similar way. If it's a weapon that looks cool in the weapon type I like, I grind it. I get the best possible roll I can on it an play with it until I vault it or maybe I don't vault it. I own every single auto rifle in the game with the near exact roll I want and I occasionally, to this day (well...not as of recently because this season is pointlessly empty and sunsetting turns me off) play with them whenever I get bored of the games content. I did this because I knew...which becomes I thought...it would be relevant forever and not a waste of my time. Why bother grinding for gear in season 12 when the only thing bungie cares about anymore is utility over vanity. Why should I always be chasing "the next recluse" when it doesn't have to BE recluse for me to care. It just needs to look good and be half decent. I'm not going to deny, that if an auto came out that was the best auto ever, that i would be more inclined to grind for it, but as I said, it doesn't have to be the best auto ever made for me to care. I also know that I am not everyone and so I don't speak for everyone on this matter and nor do I wish to. All's I know is, is that I liked destiny because of the current system the game has. The fact it never made my old gear useless was what kept me coming back when there was NOTHING to do and hearing that my gear is going to become worthless has turned not only me off, but also every single one of my friends who enjoyed the game for the same reasons. I hope that sunsetting reaches the goal that bungie wants...but for me it's not going to in the way I had hoped for. I guess the only thing the game is going to have left for me anymore is the new content and basically that's it. I don't want to waste my time farming for gear that in 3 months gets replaced.
