The problem with destiny is that it's trying to be too many genres for too many types of gamers. Yeas it has mmo elements but it's not a dedicated MMORPG. They try to balance content for people that play everyday for 8 hours a day and people that play maybe 2 days a week. They need to figure out what type of game they're making and stick with it.
And no, I've never been into mmorpgs but I'm well aware most gear becomes obsolete when new stuff comes out, hence why I like destiny's system of keeping gear you like relevant

You hit it on the head there, no rebuttal necessary. Sad truth is the games always wanted to be a game where you had to dedicate time into, no matter what you call it. It's always been invisioned as an looter shooter. Problem is many console players had never seen such a game, and almost instantly tried to change the core aspects of the the game and bungie actually allowed into happen. So now we have this shit show. Where the players are getting upset because they're not doing whatever the community asks because it's flat out not up to us. Its their game. If you don't like it, don't play it. And they need to stick to those guns.
