I didn't know about the commendations part. I think I still have some from TDB :P
But the nightfall bonus isn't going to affect it, since they are going to remove it to keep people from feeling that they need to do it ASAP

Next week is when you'll get marks from commendations, as the dual mark system is switching to legendary marks. If you consume a commendation, you'll get 250 rep towards vanguard or crucible, depending on the commendation, or if you're wearing a faction class item, the rep goes to the worn faction. I'm not sure if they get buffed by the nightfall effect, well have to find out next week.
