If you purchased the package and then opened it and then unlocked the ornament, then there's nothing to be done.

So is it also true even though I spent the money on the season pass for access to the Felwinter's Lie Quest, now that it's taken away I never get to experience said content?

You had access to the quest it was made known (if it was not obvious) that the quest was leaving at end of season. At the season end the quest was removed. Just like a cover charge paying for the pass only gives temporary access
