i disagree that bungie is trying to make it easier for casuals.
they are trying to make it more competitive and team oriented, and from your post it sounds like you agree with the latter.
a good number of people in my clan are pve mains and whenever we do crucible together a lot of them either have a hard time sticking with me (which i don't really get) or have a hard time/just don't won't to take direction.
i don't know how many times i have told my team, "lets just hold A and B" only to have someone say right after, "nah man i spawned closed to C (probably right around B) so I'm gonna cap it" then they fail to cap it and the spawns get flipped.
my point is some people just aren't that good at pvp and making it more team oriented isn't going to magically make casuals better, if anything they will eventually learn to get better or just stick to pve.

sorry but this made me think of a D2 control match i played last night with some of my clan members who are good at pvp and we actually played to hold A and B and we mercy'd the enemy team and the score was something like 37 to 8 i solo hung back at A while my team held B down, i 1v1 4 different guys trying to flank to A. felt like chuck norris, they just kept coming one by one and pretty much right as my shield was fully charged.
