LOL Don't Overdeliver??????

Anyone else read the news about Bungie not wanting to overdeliver in fears of letting its base down on future releases? I think this is a huge failure on the developer's train of thought. If the current model isn't working for the fan base it isn't working for the developer either. I would much rather see 2 releases a year instead of a big release plus like 4 little season releases. Step back take a break and really put the creative juices to work. Make the seasons larger and more exciting. Release a handful of new crucible maps and gambit maps. Create multiple dungeons and raids and add a couple of new strikes that go with the story bungie is telling.

  •
Make the seasons larger and more exciting.
This is the wrong thing to do. Part of the reason we keep getting copy and paste bs, is because the game engine is dogshit and impossible to work with. Trying to cram more bs into bs seasons is gonna lead to even lower quality content. The right thing to do, if you want quality content and not just any content, would be to reduce the amount of yearly seasons to 3 or even 2. And accept the gact that there will be content droughts. This would allot for Bungie to dedicate more devs to into larger/higher quality releases.

    • I am in sales and we always talk about under promise and over delivery. Bungie is the epitome of the opposite of that. They ALWAYS over promise and under deliver.

      • It really shows in this current season. Season of the re used assets. Very little new content. And the dungeon doesn’t count, it’s sold separately.

Done over-deliverying my funds then skipped this trash season and won't be purchasing lightfall if they don't "overdeliver".

      • I guess Bungo simply don't realise how huge the gulf is between 'overdeliver' and what they currently deliver. They could do so so so much more and still not get remotely close to 'overdeliver'. I mean, sure, this budget tier dress maker will never do much, but will they ever even step up from consistently underwhelming and disappointing?

        • Sounds like more straight-up bungie bull crap to me. The game is pretty much trash right now and since D1 released bungie has never even tried to make the game live up to its actual potential

          • I’m pretty sure it’s impossible for Bungie to overdeliver. They couldn’t even if they tried, and our expectations aren’t even that high. I’d say that over these past multiple years of D2, all of our expectation have gone down drastically, but Bungie continues to under deliver

Bungies always pumping out excuses like that. Every one of their TWABs and developer interviews is built in excuses and CYA, with a side of peddling merchandise and eververse junk.

                • I wish they’d deliver some non-annoying strikes and crucible maps. End game hamster wheel would much appreciate it. Its almost sad and hilarious we have been playing the same strikes over and over for years.

                • Sounds to me like they need to drop the seasonal model and do 2 massive dlcs a year with a few sizable updates and the usual holiday events. No one from my D1 clan has played D2 since about 2 months in except one other guy. I got back in bc of him during Season of the Undying (8). I've stuck with it nonstop almost since. But I'm really feeling the burnout. And it sucks not having close friends that can play anymore

                •
not wanting to overdeliver in fears of letting its base down on future releases?
Their first mistake is over promising and hyping future releases too much only to deliver far below what's hyped, underdelivering contents

                  • Could not agree more! Complete backwards way of thinking - if they want to make the game sustainable they'd better start overdelivering and take the time to do things right.

                    • It's not about over delivering. I do a lot of -blam!- that's not on my job description at work because it keeps -blam!- getting done around the office. If I don't do it, the whole business suffers. Do I get paid for it?....... No. I've gotten raises more frequently than my coworkers though. Nobody yells when I don't do the thing that's not my job to do, but they notice when I work hard. Any argument of overdelivery is ultimately about wanting to limit expectation. Here. put it this way. Nice and simple. You know that coworker who acts like they're dumb as a brick house built on wooden stilts? But you know they aren't? They're just acting stupid so nobody will ask anything of them? That's what bungie is doing. "I don't get paid more for working harder so I'm just going to act too -blam!- stupid for them to expect anything better from me". I've had at least five colleagues pull this over the years, I know it when I see it. That said, there have been a few times that I've worked for companies that don't appreciate the extra mile... Kinda let it know what I can do vs what I'm willing to do with their treatment, kinda the "this is the weld you get for what you're offering, this is the weld you get for what I'm asking for" tactic. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but it's still not playing dumb.
Anyone else read the news about Bungie not wanting to overdeliver in fears of letting its base down on future releases?
😂 Basically saying they can't even if they wanted to in other words. The nonsense that this business feeds it's players base is just so wrong. This business lost all their talent, and this last 4 years with their very poor work ethics proves it.

                                • What news is this from? If it’s true, it’s just indicative of how any business is forced to operate in the world economy these days, especially media like television and video games. Ever think that really good show went on for too long and got bad? Ever think that one game was great until they decided retcon a bunch of stuff for future content? They’re all focused on very long-term sustainability so that they can maximize their profits. Now, I’m not saying there is no passion in these industries, there is, but the ones who call the shots are always trying to squeeze every penny out of their consumers. If they over-deliver, then sales and player retention won’t be as high for the next content release. It’s a sickening business model. Art media should absolutely be focused on making good quality content, not sustaining and milking it for years and years, eventually and inevitably destroying any semblance of its original identity. It truly is all about money.

                                  • They need to deliver new content not reworked old stale content. Drop the raids and dungeons and deliver a good quality game with new content. New maps for crucible and strikes and a new exotic quest. When they can get the base game in a good state then work on the rest of the game.

                                  • Bungie in then movie and game business if your not over delivering then you are under delivering. Key to success: under promise and over deliver. You are doing the opposite.
