• Here's kind of the way I see it: Forsaken had a new raid, a new dungeon, a lengthy campaign, three unique subclass trees per character type, a trove of exotics, a unique new game mode, 4 strikes, and two completely unique destinations (including ascendant challenges and blind well). That's a ton of stuff. If this expansion has even half the campaign Forsaken did, just one new destination (Europa) and part of an older one (Cosmodrome), a new raid with a remade raid coming, a decent amount of exotics (which it does and that's not including hidden ones), 1 new strike and 1 remade strike with 2 more remakes coming, and one completely new element type with subclass trees to boot, we're in a good shape. The point is that you don't need to be Forsaken size to be excellent. This year will have plenty to do. The toxic people in this forum all want to talk only about what they don't have and rarely show appreciation for the work Bungie puts into this thing.

    • Watchsdogs is pretty good.. the alpha and beta for cold war were great IMO .. If you like assassins creed and like the show vikings ac valhalla is about to release & they finally gave us rain again in mortal kombat.. Been asking for him to return since mkx.. My point.. Plenty of other games to play if beyond light doesnt look worth it to you

    • Yeah of course it won't be big as Forsaken! It’s Bungie one company now with less staff. So yeah we will never get a large dlc as forsaken ever again . Obviously. People need to tone down their expectations for November. There is enough information out there now to decide yourself . Anyone that doesn’t or buys in Nov is disappointed then that’s on you .

    • Looks better than other releases. Hey, maybe we can all play Cyber Punk 2077 in 2025 lmao. I’m getting all the content for free besides the season pass since I’m on Xbox, so $10 is fine by me 😂 (Yes I know you need Game Pass to get the Destiny content for free but I’ve been having that since it is well worth the money)

    • Everyone who is defending BL over the fact that there's no more Activision assistance and COVID has affected development, is missing the point. The point is it is ludicrous to charge Forsaken prices for an expansion that pales in size compared to Forsaken. Sure, people would be bummed if Bungie were like, "yeah due to some problems with development, we're only going to have another small $25 expansion this year", but we wouldn't be crying rip off at least. Charge people for what they'll get.

      • Entirely incorrect quote, what are you, CNN? He said absolutely nothing of relative sizes, only that Beyond Light is smaller than Forsaken but larger than Shadowkeep.

        • I’m a day one Destiny 1, a day one Destiny 2 player, and here’s where I get off. At least now Bungie will have to stop pretending that it was Activision forcing them to charge top dollar for measly content that you play through in three hours. (And no, adding an extra package of forty dollar a year seasonal fetch quests isn’t content.) So, enough. But, I won’t say good bye. It is likely that someday you may find me here again, traveling between worlds, still bearing the light, and rising with the Nine. Till then, good luck to all of you, my fellow guardians.

          • Can we official start calling beyond light a contraction pack? The game is not expanding, it’s not an expansion pack.

            • I have a screenshot of a leak someone posted that is shaping up to be terribly accurate. It's not even going to be as big as Shadowkeep, which was closer to Curse of Osiris/Warmind in size.

                • Forsaken: 3 raids, shattered throne, zero hour, 4 new strikes, pvp changes, pinnacles guns, gambit creation and prime. Shadowkeep: 1 raid, pit of heresy, prophecy with old weapons, 2 new strikes, rituals the first 2 seasons only to and trials with D1 weapons/armor. Beyond light: 1 raid, 1 D1 raid, 1 new strike, 2 D1 strikes, 1 ritual gun that's a copy of beloved. That's not even taking the non core activities into account; 4 Forges, reckoning with 2 bosses, 3 menagerie bosses vs vex offensive, sundial, lost sectors and a public event. It's changed from grinding to unlock the forges to obelisk bounty grind, bunker bounty grind and recaster bounty grind. Content quantity wise has been getting less and quality wise considerably less (Reused gear or bosses, or content itself such as the upcoming strikes and vog) yet were still paying the same prices as before. Falling standards should be bungies motto, not ser you starside

To everyone who wanted the DCV, to everyone who supports gear retirement, to everyone saying we would get more content because of the price hike, nows' your chance. Go ahead, answer some basic questions. 1: With the removal of half the content, with very little new content being added to replace the content that's leaving the game, do you see yourself playing the game for more than a few hours per day after this season is finished? 2: With the removal of half the content, with very little new content being added to replace the content that's leaving the game, do you believe the price hike is justified and worth the extra value Europa will bring to the game? 3: With weapons being retired, and some buffs/nerfs happening that don't overly affect gameplay in Light Disabled content like Crucible, do you see a significant shift in the Meta? Go ahead, answer them. Reality is oft disappointing. Maybe answering some very basic questions will help you see reality. As I've said before, it's best to wait until launch. Be skeptical, be hopeful, but don't be stupid. If you really thought Beyond Light would be the savior of Destiny 2, it's looking more and more like your beliefs were misplaced.

                      • Well nah. There's an armor refresh for vendors. They just kinda look like shit. Again tho. I still don't care. I want some new aliens with new abilities to shoot. I could care less that I don't have a new sniper with a crucible logo slapped on it that does the exact same thing as my old one.

                      • This was a given. I expected the worst and so far Bungie has done nothing to get me to buy anything from them. All I can say at this point about BL as I said already that sums it up for me. They are spending way too much time looking for what doesn't work for the game versus what does. How is that an incentive to pre-order or buy the first day?

                        • I know you are all upset. Why don't we play for a little bit. Let's play describe the game Destiny using their guns. Destiny 1: is like a Gjallarhorn - Because elegant and loved by all. Destiny 2: is like a Whisper of the Worm - Because reskins?. . . Yeah, it's the beginning of the copy/paste era. Destiny 2.2 Beyond Light: is like The Cut and Run - Because . . . well, I think that says it all. It's self explanatory. But the Fanbois will not get this and will get triggered. Bungie Logic!

                        • 1. Forsaken was built by a Bungie that was pushing 1000 employees, and with the help of TWO support studios of 200 emplyees each. 2. Much of what we got in Forsaken had very little replay value. We played through it once....then threw it over our shoulder's like an empty breverage bottle. Who goes back and plays: a. The Baron fights? b. The Blind Well? c. Shattered Throne? d. Last Wish (if they already have One Thousand Voices?) e. Scourge of the Past (If they already have Anarchy?) f. Gambit Prime? g. The Reckoning? Forsaken at the end of the day suffered from the same problems that vanilla D2 did: Lots of stuff to do....very little reason (after the initial play through) to do it. What will make or break Beyond Light isn't stuffing the game full of stuff we run one time...and then never revisit. What will make or break BL are the changes to the game that will make the game viable as a loot game, and give it that self-sustaining replayability that well-designed games have. What I've seen so far...and what Bungie has been hinting at....seems to indicate that Bungie has finally figured this out and started to make the changes to the game needs. Diablo 3 hasn't had a major expansion since Reaper of Souls back in 2014. But people still show up to play that game EVERYDAY. The Avengers is packed to the gills with stuff to do....but there is very little reason to so ANY of it. once you've maxe out your heroes....and the end-game is so disorganized that you have little idea of what it is you should be playing even if there was a need to do so.
