Cozmo, dmg.....we need to talk.......

I can see that the array of nerfs that were announced in last night's TWAB are going over **about** as I expected they would. I've really got to ask you---your devs really---a very simple question: [i]Do You Really WANT To Be Making a Loot-Based Game With Destiny?[/i] I ask this because at every turn for the last 6 months I see you guys doing things that show that you either don't UNDERSTAND these kinds of games, and what motivates people to play them......or you don't RESPECT those reasons why.....or both. People play games like Destiny in PVE for one simple reason: POWER. The power to do things in the game that they can't do in real life. They GRIND for more power, so that the game gets EASIER as they progress in the game. BECAUSE THAT SENSE OF POWER IS THE ONLY THING THE GAME HAS TO OFFER. Yet for the last 8 months, you're devs just keep SABOTAGING the game. At every turn you are either REFUSING to give the player power....or taking BACK power that has already been given...and yet you seem confused as to why player are angry...and why they are getting frustrated and going to play other games. This game has one of the most broken progression systems I've ever seen in a loot game. At every turn its designed to limit what power (loot) the player can get from the game, and pry out of his hands (cores) what power he does have. The other half of the problem is the sandbox. You are asking people to grind inordinate amounts of time for rewards THAT ARE NOT POWERFUL, AND DON'T MAKE THE PLAYER FEEL POWERFUL. We grind for "pinnacle" weapons that are basically nothing more than god-rolled Legendaries from D1. You have an entire ARMORY of exotics that are basically USELESS. You have legendary heavy weapons that are almost laughably underpowered. IOW..... [b][i]NONE of the items that got nerfed are "broken" or overpowered from a PVE persprective. IF YOU GO BACK AND PLAY DESTINY 1, ALL YOU GOING TO SEE IS THAT THESE EXOTIC ARMOR PIECES SIMPLY GIVE YOU YOUR SUPER BACK ON ABOUT THE SAME RHYTHM THAT YOU GOT IT IN DESTINY 1 IF YOU HAD A HIGH INTELLECT BUILD.[/i][/b] The reason why people only use those exotics is because they are the only one's in the sandbox that make you feel powerful....and the only ones what actually CHANGE how the game is played in a meaningful way. ...and now you want to take that power Away....AGAIN. ...AND YOU WONDER why people are mad. They are mad becasue you are breaking the fundamental contract that lay at the root of every good loot game. [b] That player effort will be rewarded with power..[/b]..and people are getting angry and frustrated because at every turn you want people to play your game, while you refuse to reward them with new power...and TAKE AWAY power that has already been granted. To the point where Whisper of the Worm has been given the EXACT same treatment that Black Hammer did. We LITERALLY have gone in a big circle with that weapon. I assume the next move is that it too will be removed from the game..... It is LONG past time your devs stopped hiding in their offices, and actually FACE this community and get to know them....and understand WHY it is they play this game. Otherwise they are going to keep doing TONE DEAF things like this.... ...and they are eventually going to lose this game...and lose its players to OTHER games that understand them, and reward them.

        • Upvoted. Today was the last straw. I simply can't understand all the nerfs that no one asked for. In my mind, the ability to kill a strike boss in 30 seconds, an one phase raid bosses is a testament to the work an effort I've put in. That for me is the real challenge. That for me is end game. It's a validation of my effort and my ability to gear....... I was so fed up after reading the TWAB I jumped back into Warframe. I'm mastery rank 23 and have bucket loads of good mods, weapons, and frames. I jumped on Ash Prime and started hitting fatal teleport. Tigris Prime was laying waste to shit, I felt powerful. It was glorious. I think I've finally had enough. I haven't touched a raid since Leviathan. I 'm not wasting time chasing shit rewards. I'm done chasing luna's howl that shits getting a nerf. The Gambit rewards only work in Gambit???!!! As I sit here, I'm downloading updates so I can start the Division 2. The flavor text from Silimar's Iron Sash (a Titan class item from D1) says: "Ward or fist you cannot be broken". Well Bungie you finally broke me and I'm out.

            At this point I am glad they did not bring Ice Breaker up from D1 - probably would have completely ruined that weapon given the WotW logic they claiming right now. And your point is valid - I use the rigs because it gives me my tether back. And considering too many supers in this game (top tree tether included) give the stupid mini-orbs that do not replenish your super worth sh*t, having an exotic that, if used correctly, can give you that super back in spades is great. At least it is helping someone since the orbs I make with my super really do not help my teammates... Lastly, I thought Bungie claimed prior to Forsaken that they were done with all the nerf crap? I thought their process going forward was to bump everything up instead of nerfing everything into the ground? I guess that was an Activision directive...

            • What's happening in this game is the accumulate of bad decisions in both design and balance that Bungie has done since D2 was released. While they tried to provide players with loot, we ended up having a lot of exotics that are pure crap and add nothing to the game and a few exotics that fill the holes left by the poor design of the game. Let's see: if we got supers and abilities at a faster pace, we wouldn't rely so much on the exotics that give us super. They were so afraid that the game had too much focus on these that every armor that gave super would be immediately prioritized over anything else. Then you have weapons: why do we need so many archetypes of each weapon? Why do hand cannons below 180 RPM have negative aspects like bloom that only make them harder to use? Why do my scout rifles kill slower than pulse rifles at long ranges? The problem with the current balance is that every group activity can be stomped easily and the hard activities are the ones you play solo and give nothing as reward. This is because the way the missions are designed in terms of mechanics and enemy behavior makes the game easier. When you have raid teams 1 phasing Calus with primary weapons, it's not because they are too overpowered, it's because the game doesn't keep up with content and while you get more means to finish your quests, those quests just stop in time. If you want to balance this game, you don't need to take power from the players (in my case, I always like to see the new exotics to see which will be powerful, only to end up with crap like Stronghold) you need to start changing your design philosophy and rework missions and strikes and even raids if needed be. It's not acceptable that every single boss since D1 a stomp mechanic to deal with players in close quarters. TL:DR: Problem is not that gear is OP, is the poor design and balance changes that got out of control that's making the activities feel too easy.

              • Nice post. It’s too bad that no matter how concise, logical, or even passionate our feedback is, it’s not respected by the people who make the decisions at Bungie. It’s even more frustrating that a lot of our feedback is simply common sense, but is still largely ignored. There’s been some very big pushes by the community at large that have produced reactions, course corrections, and changes by Bungie that have resulted in substantial changes for the better (eventually). But as I think about those specific issues I realize that for the most part those situations were so stupid and detrimental to player base that I can only call Bungie “moronic” for having implemented them in the first place. Through the complete and entire history of the Destiny franchise we’ve witnessed dumbass decision after dumbass decision. Sometimes they get fixed, most times they don’t. And somehow we deal with it because despite the bad treatment we receive, we still find enjoyment in the game despite Bungie time and time again making dumbass decisions that defy even the most basic concepts of common sense. As I’ve stated many times before, I’m not spending a single penny more until some of the most stupid decisions currently in place are reversed. It’s a strong possibility my journey with Destiny will end this September. -blam!- it.

                • Bungie apparently nerfed super exotics because they wanted teammate’s orbs to be the best source of super... so why do orbs give us jack shit compared to D1 orbs?

                    • All the announced nerfs are minor tweaks, stop the dramatics. I'd rather have 18 whisper rounds than 9, so I'm not sure why everyone is bent out of shape. The armor nerfs were all expected, so no surprise there. It doesn't seem like it's going to change anything for the worse.

                      • I think power shouldn't rule a game.. Each weapon should be a viable choice and each player should enjoy using their load out. They shouldn't just use it so they can one phase a raid boss. Raids should always be a challenge, the higher your light level obviously the easier it becomes but it should never be "easy". What makes raids easier is your fire team. Good communication, teamwork on adds, organised DPS phases etc. Every raid in destiny has a DPS phase, mechanic, DPS, mechanic, when it would be more of a challenge to co-ordinate when to attack high health bosses with your team. There shouldn't be a time where you cant do damage to the boss because it makes the encounter too easy, it's poor design.

                        • My assumption is they decided to go with the bad news first, then we'll have 2 weeks of positive hype for season 7, including some buffs to underused Exotics If there is no good news, then something else is going on, and it might just be total incompetence

                          • Look honestly PVE in this game is so stupid easy regardless of what loadout you have or armor you're wearing or super you're using. Bungie has basically made the easiest game possible and still somehow it's not easy enough for everyone? I mean if this really is the type of player that Bungie has attracted to its game then I really hope a purge happens so we can get some fresh players in here.

Is anyone listening to themselves in this forum? Everyone complains about the tiniest things on the forum and I’m sick of it.                                 Hold up a sec aren't you one of the guys barking for Lunas and not forgotten nerf? I don't want to be mean but it's pretty hilarious that as soon as it hits your own amount of time investment.. You start arguing against nerfs.. I want to Tell you one Thing it cost twenty Times more effort to get not forgotten than any of the exotics which gettin nerfed to be fair you guys are the reason for that what is happenig you cried multiple Times for nerfs and crossed the line.. You cried for the hardest gun to get for a nerf and thought it would stop? You guys woke a Monster called bungies nerf insanity.. I am personaly respect all players hard work and invested time.                                 • Personally, I don’t crutch myself into believing that whisper is my only option. I don’t like to play on hunter or warlock, so I’ve become accustomed to having to work twice as hard for everything throughout destiny 2 on my Titan. (looking at you hunters and warlocks). I can honestly say, I’m looking forward to penumbra where all the hunters and warlocks will have to actually figure out how to be useful without all of their typical overpowered as balls exotics and supers and abilities. I know it’s gonna be a hard time for you, but when you get down and triggered while your wearing your snap backs and ripping your juuls, just remember that the titans have been living this way since the beginning of destiny 2. Might do some good for you to swallow a good dose of humility for once.

                                  • You are epically wrong on the one major point of the nerfs. You state that items like the skull of Dire Ahamkara give back supers at the rate of a high intellect build. That is a baldfaced lie. The skull currently when used on many enemies gives back your full super as soon as it is fired and does this over and over and over. Literally. In what universe did a HIGH INTELLECT build ever do this, NONE not close, not remotely close. I agree I do not want it nerfed but a BALDFACED LIE is not the way you convince them or anyone that you know what you are talking about.

                                    • Take that power away... Super regen exotics should be fine. I get it’s fun to throw 6 novas a minute. But with orbs along with the exotic you really should be fine.
