In regards of Telesto...

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, READ THE WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU ASSUME I WANT IT NERFED TO DUST. I LOVE TELESTO, AND I KNOW BUNGIE IS LOOKING INTO BALANCING IT. I JUST WANTED TO GIVE FEEDBACK SO I CAN SAY I GAVE A SUGGESTION BESIDES NERFING THE LIVING BEJESUS OUT OF IT. THIS POST IS AN ATTEMPT TO SAVE ONE OF MY FAVORITE EXOTICS FROM A BAD NERF. YES, I USED IT FOR THE LAST FEW COMP MATCHES FOR LUNA. YES I USED IT AS A SHOTTIE COUNTER. NO, I DONT WANT IT NERFED SO OTHER PEOPLE CAN’T GET LUNA. IF YOU CRUTCH A SPECIAL WEAPON FOR LUNA, YOU DON’T DESERVE IT. So, I have been hearing a lot about Telesto in recent weeks, mostly that it needs a nerf. I used Telesto quite a bit to obtain the Luna's Howl, and I used it to great effect for the last 600 points before Fabled. It was great for keeping shotgun apes at an arm's length. I have been fond of it since D1. However, I have absolutely mapped people with the weapon, and am aware that some balance may be needed. While I say that, it should maintain its effectiveness so it doesn't become the same joke it was in D1. It should not move to power status, as it can't one shot supers, and can't kill in 4 bolts if the target has more than 7 resilience. I also would suggest against returning it to a time-based detonation rather than the current proximity-based detonation. The best option, in my opinion, would be to reduce the stability SLIGHTLY. While it technically has no damage falloff, one of the biggest OHK factors of fusions is stability. High stability means the bolts cluster together more, meaning more ranged OHKs. If the stability is reduced, it retains its effectiveness at close and mid-close range (which is what fusions typically do), while making it more difficult to use in the longer ranged that people have been complaining about. It also retains its "Exotic Feeling". Just wanted to give my thoughts, because I am aware that Bungie is looking into Telesto. Give this an upvote so the devs might see and not ruin the beloved Telesto (because its the Besto)! TL;DR: Nerf Stability. Still remains a good fusion, while not mapping people. P.S. IMO, shotguns need a once-over before Telesto does, but its whatever I guess

  • Maybe just go back to D1 and spawn with special and if you die its gone but you can pick up a special crate and get about 2-4 shots it leaves shottys and telesto nerf free

    • All they need to do is add just a tiny bit of falloff damage, and we're good. If they DO nerf it into the ground, then they'll have to do the same with shotguns.

      • It does way too much damage, no damage fall off at range, a very quick charge rate, and one of the major problems is people lining up doorways and and the ground and walls and you can literally just walk around a corner and BAM! You're dead from telesto bolts someone shot behind a door 10 years earlier and had no way of knowing they were even there in the first place. The bolts stick around way too long and don't need to deal as much damage when they are placed on surfaces instead of on another guardian. Telesto is just flat out ridiculous lol

        I think they should just move it to the Heavy Slot with small buff to compete with a Thousand Voices (placed mines have a bigger radius or something..) Special ammo weapon should have potential for a One-Shot kill, but skill is needed for consistency. Telesto... Not much skill required and is very consistent. That's heavy weapon territory.

        • Since Bungie is looking into tweaking Telesto, I think this idea doesn’t sound to bad in the event they do. We already have three very good exotic fusions(two linears and 1KV) and I kind of doubt Telesto would be able to compete with them at all. 1KV is basically a Telesto on steroids and the only reason to use Telesto would be maybe on void singe or something. All in all, not a bad idea.

          I think it’s funny when people say shotguns need a nerf before things like telesto. Guess what happens if they do that? Everyone uses telesto. and everyone complains about that. They nerf that? Everyone uses a sniper and everyone complains how boring, slow and campy matches have become. The weapons don’t nerfed. The special weapon ammo economy is just broken. You get way to much special ammo. Enough to literally use it all game. A special weapon needs to be a weapon for special occasions. To get you out of a tight situation. Not take over the role of a PRIMARY weapon. What is even the point in having a primary anymore? The same goes with heavy. It spawns way too often. Needs to go back to a one time spawn.

            • it can stay as it is if it gets a serious stability nerf. we are talking king’s fall midha’s reckoning type stability. the fact that it has that tight of a bolt spread and no damage falloff makes it worse than a shotgun in the right hands. the damage per bolt, lack of damage falloff, proximity detonation, and charge time are fine in my opinion. but the bolt spread is way, way too tight for what it is.

                  I use it to stop ape shotgunners. Apes use one kind of cheese to get easy 1 hit kills, telesto is another. The number of times I've stuck bolts to the ground and some moron with a dust rock ect has b-lined it at me and exploded is rediculous. If you're going to use shotty primary then don't play like an idiot and expect results. The problem with telesto lies in its mid range play where it is far too consistent at one hitting even at hand cannon/ auto rifle range. A stability nerf might help with that. Or even how much damage the bolts do at those ranges. Fusion rifles have always been a good counter to shotguns and I guarantee most of the people who have a problem with it are using shotguns. Also don't forget, this is an exotic.. most shotguns used in PvP are not.

                  • When it’s come to the point where people in competitive don’t use telesto against each other to show respect...that’s when you know the gun is broken. I feel like the range on the telesto is the problem....but at the same time I wouldn’t want the gun nerfed. It’s not impossible to counter just annoying to play against with a primary.

                  • I started using Telesto to reach Fabled a few days ago. I used to be a bumbling idiot trying to use the gun but now that I learned, its a monster. Only yesterday did i realize you can use the sticky bolts as mines. Ive been using them to cover flanks and honestly its really good lol i even got a double kill with it. I didnt know about the 7 resilience though. That answered my question as to why i couldnt kill them when i clearly landed all bolts. Its a fun gun.

                        • Sorry, telesto has got to go. Shotguns are not that difficult to counter and that argument is asinine for anyone claiming it's the only counter. You don't even need to be hit by the gun to die and the range is ridiculous. I'll take shotgunners over telesto users any day of the week.
