And it's by far the best way I have been able to read into the broken ties of the story! It told me everything from beginning to end on what has been told via grimoire cards to things bungie will fill us in on to things that are still in question yet people have their own fan-fictions on already. By far the best read all month long. Bungie please keep up the good work and continue filling these holes in this amazing storyline. Hope you Guardians enjoy these articles.
Edit 1: Needless to say this article is now trending haha! I'm glad everyone is enjoying this backstory. I have read it all and I really hope that Bungie expands more on this story and the holes that lie within it all.
Edit 2: I have read a good portion of comments and how people are annoyed at the fact that some outer source had to tell this story. I can agree with that but at the same time I wouldn't want a storybook implanted in the game to tell you these things. I want to play out the Collapse. I want to play out the battle of Twilight Gap. I want to play these events instead of reading an article. And I probably won't be able to play them but my guardian might be able to relive them or even better find a way to go back in time and reverse history. I'm telling you this storyline has potential out the butthole. Let's hear your fan-fictions!!
Edit 3: I see that people would prefer to not have to read the story of the game outside the game itself. I can understand that but also there are a lot of games that have a hidden storytelling and RPG'S especially fall victim to these categories. I'm someone who runs to where the cursor is and picks up the mission and turn it in without reading the essay that they have in the mission description within that bounty. I miss out on a lot of the story because I have things I want to do. I want to get to the action. I wanna shoot the aliens. Not read hours of text when I can easily do that in my off hours/work (I work in a job that doesn't really require extensive attention). But I could probably also agree that there should be a in game grimoire/story book on the previous events that took place before "Destiny"

3 RepliesThey definitely created an amazing world with a rich history and mythical characters. After putting about a month of my life into the game, though, I still don't feel like much of substance has happened in game. I don't feel like I've been given much access to that amazing world they created. And part of that is I don't feel like my Guardian has played an active role in the story. So I don't feel invested in my Guardian because my Guardian isn't invested in the story. Instead of doing important things, I'm watching a character watch important people do important things. My Guardian is only valuable when something needs to be murdered. My Guardian makes no choices and has no meaningful ties to anyone or anything. Still, I love the game, which is evident by the month of my life I've put into it.

I shouldn't have to have an article explain to me the lore of a game. It should IN THE GAME. I should be receiving this information through characters, missions, and in game codices. Not through a damn magazine article.

2 RepliesOnly thing off, is the fact that they say the traveler made a heroic last stand when pretty much all the grimoire points towards Rasputin attacking the traveler to keep it here as that is what it seemed the only viable option for keeping humanity alive.

im not reading this now as its too long and not complete (expantions bla bla bla extra story in them) but at the end of destinys life (end of 10 year plan) if bungie put ALL of the lore in order of happening into one giant book and sold it, i would -blam!-ing buy the shit out of that (if the lore wasnt implimented into the game at this point with cutscenes)

7 RepliesI thought the main theory was that the Traveller didn't choose to stay and fight, but was crippled by Rasputin when it tried to flee. So it was left with no other choice than to fight. Then once the fight ended the Traveller figured since it wasn't going to make it out of there it would throw out the ace up its sleeve, the ghosts.

They did it in the halo franchise perfectly, what the hell made them change the format to the point that if you only play the game and use no outside info you have next to no idea wtf is goin on.

3 RepliesIm a day one player on the xbox one and bought it again for the ps4 when the april update came out and have 6 high level characters. Ive played through the story from start to finish many times and while the story is good, the insane amount of story and extra details that has been left out of the game is a joke. I could go and read the gromoire but its not in order and i refuse to read it until its put in the game, even as a codex as long as it was done in a way that is clear and in order so i dont have to jump between 20 cards to read all the info about a certain weapon or event a good example is the thorn the number of cards you have to find in order to read all about it is insane. It could be a great feature in destiny 2 if its done right, but sadly from a few interviews ive seen it will never happen.

Gave it a read and while I new most of it, it's still well worth the read and done in an excellent format. Now imagine if all that was actually playable audio from grimoire cards in game? It's such a shame how badly they have conveyed the bulk of the story by its there and still one of the best a game has to offer I think, that is of course if you bother to keep reading grimoire cards, quotes etc

I hope in RoI we get a little Stranger insight, I keep waiting for more. I think that's what I liked best was that in future games it will tie in and her rifle will be brought back to current light! Edit: really makes me want to replay the game from the begning, (not start a character over just replay it)

And I don't see why people are angry that the story isn't in game I mean you play a game to play the game not read a book about the game. I'm glad they put the story out there for us to see. Be grateful people at least it's there and not completely absent. Bump

2 RepliesThe real reason the hive/taken are angry? Crota ordered pizza from the traveler and it took longer than 20 minutes to deliver... Crota laughed and said "sorry traveler pizza is free as per your advertised guaranteed delivery time" The traveler was angry because he thought the hive boomers that delayed him were sent by crota so he wouldn't have to pay. The traveler entered a state of depression because his wife ended up leaving him because he couldn't pay his rent... So the travelers guardians killed crota and took the $20. Oryx then invaded the system to get back the 20 bucks that crota borrowed from him...
