The Case of the Vanishing Exotics
Thagomizers. Astrocyte Verse. Et cetera.
You know what I'm talking about.
Bungie's own promotional material for The Taken King showed Guardians wearing some spiffy-looking armor. Resourceful players were able to identify those exotic armors, using the armory on Bungie's own website. And the time-gated wait began.
Then, something mysterious happened. The 'April Update', presumably the last significant update before the next paid dlc in the Fall, dropped. Were the last of the time-gated exotics added to the loot pool? Quite the opposite.
They were removed from the armory.
Shrewd move, Bungie. Shrewd move.
We can't call this 'false advertising', because Bungie never explicitly named those exotics with the promise that they'd become available. What we can call it, what it [i]is[/i], is [b][u]unethical[/u][/b].
What do you have to say about this, Bungie? Do you really think that silence is the best answer to accusations of unethical practices?

6 RepliesIf people were receiving these drops, and then suddenly Bungie pulled them, yes, I'd be concerned. But using the word "unethical", when they're not dropping for anyone? Are you for real?... I can see you care THAT much, but maybe you should just move on and attempt to accept this loss. My condolences...

1 ReplyActually, it could be considered false advertising. They advertised the exotics in their promotional trailers for TTK, and over half a year later from release, we have yet to see them. This is not unethical. It is false advertisement at its finest.

Dude, bungie only knows how to nerf shit. If somethings good, I mean just slightly better, the entire class gets nerfed to dog shit. Some of those new exotics looked too good. And there really wouldn't be a way to nerf them w out removing their unique perk, so bungie just pulled them. I guarantee that's what happened. Compare yr 1 to now, everything sucks. You can have whatever gear you want from yr 2, I mean you can equip all exotic weapons and armor from yr 2 and give me a yr 1 set up w yr 1 stats and you'll get ffd up. The gear we have now sucks. those new exotics looked good. Of course they pull them. Fu ck tard bungie strikes again.

1 ReplyThey were never said to be part of any update. Even the trailer falls under "content of trailer subject to change". so that cant be used for a logical argument., As for the armory thats just been a place for placeholders. Again doesnt mean its in the game

I'm really starting to think all of those exotics are one giant troll by Bungie. each and every one seems completely game breaking. or at least stupidly OP. improved blink? that's nightmare fuel. improved/longer/tighter turn shoulder charge? no, that won't be a problem... I'm really starting to think that Bugnie planned, long ago, to release all those exotics, and then through the roller-coaster of nerfs they realized those particular exotics were all disasters waiting to happen - and they killed them as quietly as they could. maybe they'll release them in the paid DLC, I doubt it, maybe they'll rlease them in D2, when platform changes allow base changes that can accommodate them, I wouldn't be surprised if they never see the light of day.

5 RepliesThe sad thing is it is a great game but Bungie with it's 500 people and 500 Million budget through out the life cycle of the game can't bring us real content real challenges . I want hardcore . I want Destiny , prepare to Die edition . i want to go in a challenge and get my ass handed to me , but instead we are finishing content supposed to be hard but it's not . that's the problem !

They will release them in the next DLC and say, "we been busy creating these new exotics for you, guardians!" As well as advertise new exotics for the new DLC, that we wont see until the DLC after that lol. BUNGIE is clearly full of incompetent, cash hungry jerks who will never see another penny of mine. -lesson learned.
