I'm a 31 who never did VoG. Nice to meet you.
I've had the game from day one. I do the nightfall and weekly by my self.
But I don't play with other players, (outside of my kids) so I don't have "friends" (if you can call them that) on here to do the raids with. Or a set schedule that I can go on some web site and round up a bunch of strangers to play a game with for 2 hours.
And I'm not going to apologize for it!

This. This right here. I work full time, and I'm a single dad of 4 great kids. I have owned every major gaming system since NES with the exception of the NEO GEO and PS4. Point of fact is that I am an OG gamer through and through. At this point though the real world doesn't allow me to game as much as I'd like. I enjoy Destiny quite a lot. I'm level 30, but I've never done the raid. I've got somewhere around 200 hours in this game though, so the insinuation that I was given anything is ridiculous. Buying a full set of vendor gear would take a month or more of pretty intense playing for most people. That's not giving anything away. Honestly, who wouldn't be good at the raids after doing them a few times. People need to get off of their high horses IMO.

You're right. It's not impossible. It is pretty difficult though to set aside several hours for the game, and still have time for anything else. Starting a raid and then having to bail on the team is a far more egregious faux pas I think. I do intend to do the raids at some point. Until then I will keep playing the way I do.

Leaving a raid midway is not really that bad. Just say "sorry guys got to go." they will get a replacement in 5 minutes time. And the raids have checkpoints that refresh until Tuesday so just clear one section a day and you golden. Really the raids are best part of the game and whoever has not done them are missing out

Preach on. I'm not a single dad (bless you for the work you're doing, sir), but I a 40 year old, happily married, fully employed father of two teens. I'm a level 30 and I'm never completed the raid. I've done about 2/3 of the VoG, but our team disintegrated when life called half of it away from their consoles. Like you, I've been a gamer since the days of Pong. I'm less than 13 ascendant shards away from hitting level 31 (everything else is completed to fully level my remaining gear). I'm not ashamed.
