I was iffy about spending that much when I was looking around a few months ago. The 500x wasn't out yet, it was only announced. After comparing what was on the market it seemed that every headphone had it's pluses and minuses. To get one feature there was a compromise of not getting another feature. The 500x had everything I wanted save for active noise cancelation. The way I saw it any headset I bought for a gaming system that just came out would be used for 7 years or so, the life of the new gaming system. If I'm going to get something that I'm going to use almost every day for 7 years I may as well get something that I'm going to be happy with. I didn't want to make a compromise for that long. My advice would be to save up for something you really want. Go on headphone web sights and research what's currently available, and look for what's been announced to be sold in the future. Any choice you make you will have for years, unless of course you decide to buy a second set later but that's even more money in the long run. Wish you best of luck in finding what you want :)
