They were not portraying him as guilty. They were saying that a man with such allegations is NOT fit to serve in the Supreme Court. It's not a trial. It's a job interview. And if a candidate were to show up with 90+ percent of their files being withheld, then had significant and credible allegations brought against them, then would you not think "okay, let's not hire this guy?"

  • Have you not seen the reports? Ford’s ex-boyfriend was questioned by the FBI and was recorded saying she knew how to fake a polygraph. These allegations are nothing more than that, allegations, with very little, if any, evidence backing them. And would you say Bill Clinton was fit to serve in office?

You can't "fake" a polygraph. Because the test are designed to look at body functions that are beyond conscious control. They just are reliable in terms of detecting falsehoods. Only that someone is under stress, which (correlates) with telling a lie. The only people who can systemactically "fool" a polygraph are sociopaths. Who just genuinely don't feel any stress or negative emotion when lying, because they genuinely don't care and have impaired ability to feel fear anyway.

  • Then perhaps she’s a sociopath

  • Unlikely. ...and the chance that there is some "explanation" that all three of these women are somehow "wrong" or "broken" in some way that exonerates Kavanaugh is practically zero. Honorable men don't have THREE women come out of their past to accuse them of something like that. One? Sure. You could have had a misunderstanding, or someone with a vendetta. Three? Odds are you're dealing with someone who has a pattern of misbehavior....and dismiss it at your own peril.

  • The odds are against him, but if these women are being honest, why would they wait until now to make these allegations? Why not before he was nominated on the Supreme Court. He’s been a public figure for a long time.

  • Ford made the allegation years ago to her therapist. This was explicitly mentioned during her testimony.

  • Therapist notes don't mention Kavanaugh though. The more information that comes out, the less credible her claim is. An Ex gave a sworn statement to the committee that refutes other parts of her testimony as well. And now it's come out that her team pressured her friend to change her story after people were citing her sworn statement as contradicting Ford's claim. There's just too much information that contradicts her claim at this point to say that this is a credible accusation any longer, unless you were against his appointment from the beginning.

  • I personally was on the fence about his nomination until I watched his own testimony. I liked that he was qualified, and was about to support his nomination until he decided to inject some Donald Trump into his persona while testifying, and that's when he lost me. I prefer my judges to be neutral when approaching a subject, and not relying on emotion over logic. When Kavanaugh spent pretty much that entire testimony being hostile (especially towards Democrats) when asked about his past history or associations, as well as blaming pretty much every single party that wasn't a Republican for the whole circus that happened, that's also when he lost my support. There is literally a list of equally qualified applicants made by the Federalist Society that didn't draw as much ire and controversy as Kavanaugh did. Why the Republicans didn't see that alternative as a viable option, I will never know. The Senate should have consulted the list for the next judge rather than drawing out all of the drama and showcasing how dysfunctional the current federal government is. It's like watching a circus going up in flames at this point for me, and I'm an American. I can only wonder how non-Americans view this clown show that happened these past couple of weeks.
, why would they wait until now to make these allegations?
LOOK AROUND YOU!!! Look at how **desperate** conservatives are to dismiss all of this. How SAVAGE some of them are in their efforts to -blam!--shame these women, insist they're all paid liars....one poster even went so far as to insist Dr. Ford "wanted" it to happen. The same Dr. Ford who is getting so many DEATH THREATS and other acts of harassment and intimidation that she and her family have been forced to move out of their homes. THIS is what women face when they come forward to try accuse someone of power and/or priviliege of acquaintance -blam!-/sexual assault. The get absolutely BITCH-SLAPPED by the Patriarchy...... There is a cultural MYTHOLOGY that "affluent" (white) men don't do these sorts of things (not true)...and as a result the accusers get absolutely SAVAGED, as that person and his friends/relatives mobilize all that power to defend him, and attack her credibility. Add to that the nature of the act is that there are never any contemporaneous witnesses (they always take place in private spaces away from othes)....and there is never any physical evidence. Even if the victim goes to the police IMMEDIATELY (which almost never happens) ...all you'll get is evidence that there was a sexual act. Which---when it goes to court----all that will happen is that the defendant will stipulate to the sex....and then go for reasonable doubt based on insisting that the sex was consensual. So these cases ALWAYS turn into a brutal "He Said/She Said" situation where everyone gets bloodied....and almost always (when the accused is someone of power/privilege/fame) where the accuser is not believed. So if you have to choose between remaining silent.....and your victimizer going unpunished.... ...and coming forward and having your life turned upside down, inside out, and getting shamed and humiliated (AGAIN).....and your victimizer going unpunished..... ...which would YOU choose? When you're ALREADY the walking-wounded from the FIRST violation?
