I really don't think it does. There are some games where you could absolutely destroy the enemies, and others where you get your shit kicked in. I know there are many who disagree with me, but there should be others who feel the same

I agree. Connection issues (even though my internet is fine) mean that there are patches of time where damage updates happen very late. This is less obvious than lag, but has an impact on k/d when your first shot effectively doesn't count. I'm sure there have also been games that make me appear better than I am.
