If you put enough money into a slot machine, you will eventually get what you want out of it. That doesn't mean you've become a skilled gambler through persistence.

  • You can't compare slot machines to video games....

Not the entire game, but the loot system is essentially a slot machine. Pulling the arm over and over doesn't make you better at it. I've played with people who have 15+ exotics and three 31+ characters who are absolute shit a the game. Persistent grinding and/or getting lucky drops =/= skill.

15exotics imo is kind of easy, 5 of those can be gotten through bounties(Which is a piece of cake to complete) and the rest Xur sold. Find someone who has close to 20-21, you'll see a huge difference. 31 is kind of the new 29. Regardless, you can't tell if someone is good or not just by counting exotics. That's why they invented grimoire !

  • You can't tell if someone is good or not by their grimoire either, that also falls into what I was saying about grinding not equaling skill. Just because someone can grind out the grimoire cards does not mean they're a good player, a 6 year old could grind out the grimoire cards. They're pretty pointless as well, since I can go read any of them through a simple google search. The only purpose the cards serve is to increase an arbitrary number that at best, is an e-peen measurement.

  • Anyone over 2200-2400 I've noticed to be a decent players, anything above it they're more then above average. This is nearly 90% accurate in PVE and about 60% in PVP. I mean, if you're below that I doubt they play the game much, thus are obviously not going to be good at it...

  •
if you're below that I doubt they play the game much, thus are obviously not going to be good at it...
Actually, you can be skilled at the (or any game) game without playing it a lot. Look at my KD spreads, I'm far from the best but it's decent, even for crucible it's not bad. Then look at my playtime, I'm not sure what it is exactly but it's pretty low compared to most people who purchased the game at or around launch. Being skilled at any game starts with how good you are at that type of game to begin with. Destiny's gameplay is your basic linear Sci-Fi first person shooter. Destiny doesn't take any special practice to be good at, if that's a type of game you're already good at. And before it's brought up, I do only have 2 raid completions but check my raid attempts and it's very low. I simply don't care about raiding. The main point is, number of exotics and/or grimoire score is not an automatic indication of a skilled player. All it guarantees is a persistent player, but like I said: anyone can grind, that doesn't make them a skilled player.

As I said, it's not 100% (Esp in PVP)accurate but it's the best thing we got to determine a players skill. A player who has every exotic and every grimoire is much more likely to be better then someone who hasn't.
