I would love you see you try to kill someone with bird shot at 40 yrd with a normal shotgun, No doubt it would hurt, but doubtful it would kill, also you have to realize that the shotguns in destiny are all of the short barrel variety, and those types of shotguns have a kill range of about 10-20 yards max.

My mossburg 12 gauge home defense with short barrel and pistol grip ( no stock so hip fire only is absolutely deadly ( with just bird shot ) at 15 yards without full choke. Add the stock and full choke and I'm pretty sure if it didn't kill a human at at least 30 yards they damn sure wish they were dead

With bird shot not very and we ain't talking bout deer. You do know something bout guns right? I'm an avid hunter of corse if I was going deer hunting I'd be carting my 30-30 but that's besides the point. A 12 gauge with buck shot will lay that f**ker on his ass at 30 yards with no problem. I just prefer not too use a shot gun on deer as it tears up good meat.... :)

I said 15 with a short barrel with no stock and no choke and with those features I said 30 they would wish they were dead ( human ) if we are talking deer it better be buck shot and still no less than 30 yards and possibly further

I also have a 12in barrel Remington 12 with a pistol grip and you loose about 6 inches of pattern width at that distance. It would still kill you. Pellets are moving 1250fps out of a barrel that's still 3/4 in diameter. Good luck on the receiving end of that

It would not kill you. Sometimes it won't kill a freaking dove and that's out of a damn 28" a400 with a mod choke.

Yeah but you are talking about a flying bird with heavy down for protection too. If you hit that dude with one pellet in the head he's down. You shoot the ass out of one well that's a different story. A 12ga 7 1/2 1 1/8 round has about 315 pellets in it. At 40 yards shooting at a human face you could easily put 1/3 of those in the facial area. I beg to differ. You may not die on spot but you will wish were dead or bleed out without medical attention

dont forget Dick Cheney shot Harry Whittington with bird shot at 30-40 yards. He was hit in the face neck and upper torso, Whittington was an older man and stayed several days in hospital, it did not kill him.

Chaney's shot was also accidental. If he'd been trying to kill someone, it's possible that he could have succeeded.

Yeah buddy I believe you could pretty easily. 12ga 6 shot 1 1/4 you wouldn't miss one pellet on a 2x2 poster. Yeah maybe not a low brass shell for clay shooting

Here is a better question for you. 40 yards with shotgun and your enemy is wearing full body armor, because that is the situation you face in destiny and why you can't kill someone that far, and while you might have a 25% of killing someone at 40 yards with shotgun, you have 0% if they are wearing any armor.
