Give us a setting to turn aim assist off. I’ve had more shots ruined then helped by this.

5 RepliesYou don’t know what aim assist does if you really think you’ll be better off without it lol this seems like an Mnk player In disguise

17 RepliesBungie: *Gives option to turn off AA* Console Players: *Leaves AA on* Imagine playing with just your thumbs with no assistance. PUBG is an awesome example. It is the purest form of true shooting on console with no AA and my goodness it is ridiculously difficult to land shots. If anyone has played any shooters on console with no AA they would know how difficult it is. But to each their own. Hopefully Bungie comes through for you.

For pc players who don't understand: What is being talked about here is reticle friction for console controllers. The aim assist stat creates a wider cone for pc players, and does not degrade from things like hipfire or jumping. (If you don't believe me, Drewsky made a video demonstrating this quite a while ago) So anyone who says a console player would never hit a shot without reticle friction is just plain wrong, because the difference in aim assist cone more than makes up for it. (Even obnoxious in pve; had a collossus shoot a rocket towards me the other day and my aim went to the fricken moon as it flew over me...nearly did a 180. Literally set the controller down and stopped playing for a few seconds because it's so mind-numbingly stupid when it happens.)

Seems like most people missed the part where you said "option" rip

4 RepliesTurn it off? No. Maybe adjust it to stay on target better without being pulled off so easily. I smell what you’re stepping in lol. Countless times in the crucible I’ll be shooting at one person when someone else pulls me reticle and I’m like oh well, I guess I’m shooting them now 😂. You could just hip fire, if you’re not aiming there’s no aim assist 🤷🏻♂️

2 RepliesEdited by WhiskeyHotel: 3/16/2022 12:10:44 AMTry shooting your teammates and you'll understand why no AA is a bad idea. I wish you much luck!

4 RepliesFor everyone trying to tell me try this or that without aim assist. I have, I play every game with it off if I can help it. I very much prefer to not have assistance to hit the target. I’d rather get better at actually hitting the target.

Totally agree.

10 Replies🤣 go play apex without aim assist and then say that you play better without it lol.
-
1 ReplyI used to turn it off to snipe in CoD, it would probably overall have a bad effect in this game, though I do understand your frustration
-
1 ReplyTry shooting your teammates in Halo. That's what no aim assist feels like.

3 RepliesWanna see how bad controler is without aim assist ? Use a weapon outside of its range and try to land a single shot on controler x) Without the aim assist you will definitely whiff 90% of your shots XD. Then do the same but with a mouse and keyboard.

Lost a match in trials cause my gun tried to aim at the enemies tether while he was strafing around it. He was half health too so it pissed me off lol.

5 RepliesYou probably want to remove Aim Assist's tendency to pull your reticle off of a target you are engaged with and not Aim Assist altogether. If you ADS and engage a target (get a shot on them) your weapon should be "locked" to that target until they are dead or you exit ADS. By locked I mean that no other enemy will impact your ability to aim at that target. If they could accomplish that it would be amazing.

Yes. Aim assist is a tad too high. It’s supposed to be smart enough to barely notice it’s there.

Edited by Artisan: 3/15/2022 4:54:57 PMIt would actually be very welcome. However I imagine it would have to be PvE only to give some vague attempt of a level playing field - not that is any such thing in Destiny's PvP. Then for controller in PvE exclusively the loss of the Reticle Friction component should carry over to increased hitboxes. Without it I think the crudeness of controller would be laid bare. But yeah the reticle friction can and has wiped out entire runs, killed me many times over, the pull is that strong.

When in doubt play old school games from the 90’s they rarely have aim assist, and can give you an idea if you really want aim assistance off.
-
1 ReplyI think you know that is false

1 ReplyI think you'd be in for a rude awakening if you could turn aa off.

Edited by Demon_XXVII: 3/15/2022 4:58:33 PM99% of the playerbase without Aim Assist https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0Mjz6j_CUzA 😄 As someone who suffers with dexterity issues (due to a VBIED in Afghanistan, multiple external/internal injuries inc: C6-8 trauma, medical coma, nerve impairment, years of rehabilitation etc) I can just about Destiny with a controller (although I sure will fall off things a lot!) Although (IMO) Crucible has become worse over the last 2 years of Bungie meddling/regression of Crucible

12 RepliesThat’s not AA that’s causing that. The culprit to blame is Reticle Friction. It’s the only advantage Controllers get over M&k Everything else caters to M&k.

Even though disabling aim assist would hurt more than it would help, most fps games I’ve played had an option to turn it off, so don’t see why destiny shouldn’t.

Aim assist works on other games like cod because of how smooth those games feel compared to destiny. As soon as aim assist is off, I promise everyone would fall apart. This games feel of weapons is great but it cant handle having aim assist off. Just look at how annoying it is to be mid gun fight fighting a hunter in the middle of a dodge? Imagine that feeling 24/7? I could adapt but I have a feeling majority of players are going to crutch on specials even more. A toggle is fine I guess but you would be putting yourself at a disadvantage majority of the time
