People said that about The Dark Below.
.... and House of Wolves.....
......and The Taken King.......
......and Rise of Iron.......
.....and Destiny 2........

And they were all very disappointing in their own way, and each worse than the last.....
People said that about The Dark Below. .... and House of Wolves..... ......and The Taken King....... ......and Rise of Iron....... .....and Destiny 2........
Yet this game is a whole new level of awful. There’s no “rose colored glasses” here. It’s fundamentally far worse.

Look, we will find out. If you think I’m hoping for the demise of the game, you’re mistaken. I very much want to see it make it. It’s worth noting everything that has disturbed me most about this game - namely, lack of purpose for endgame participation - is a widely shared viewpoint. That moment in the second reveal when DeeJ claimed the new public event would give the best loot ever and out popped two tokens and a blue sparked a meme. #2tokensandablue I mention this because you have often remarked I hold a minority view. Wishful thinking I believe, else such memes would get no traction. Publications in the form of the gamer mags and Forbes are also talking in the same vein. This is a pretty unified message. I would think Bungie cancelling the live stream would help even you see how serious this is, but I guess not. George Foreman called this type of behavior “whistling through the graveyard”.

Edited by TheArtist: 11/29/2017 5:28:21 PMNo need to whistle. I loved dogs since I was a kid, and learned a long time ago two basic truisms. The smaller the dog, the louder the bark....and.... ....barking dogs dont bite. The Yorkie that's my neighbor's dog is an anxious dominant annoyance that barks insults at everything in the neighborhood. When my corgi gets sick of it, and charges him, the little shit runs off and hides. The only dog that ever bit me? Didn't make a sound. He just got tired of me annoying him while he was eating ( I was 3), then whipped around and nipped me like the obnoxious pup I was. They aren't making the noise they are because they are in a position of power. They are making it because they understand that they aren't. By contrast, The Divisions community was at its most powerful when it stopped barking...,and walked away from the game. When Massive finally saw that the game had lost 98% of its players, and people were posting videos of having to empty three magazines of ammo into mobs just to get them to die? That's when the stopped making excuses and moved to fix the game's atrocious tuning.

Please never try and sell, again, that barking dogs don’t bite. Say what you will about video game related stuff but please don’t be so irresponsible to pass along “truisms” that simply are not fact. Having worked in clinics, grooming, and training. I’ve been bitten by the loud ones, quiet ones, and in between. In all manner of circumstances

Point taken. I didn't consider the possibility that someone might take the aphorism as literal truth.
Point taken. I didn't consider the possibility that someone might take the aphorism as literal truth.
Yet you try and use it as if it is. Derp

He's a -blam!-ing idiot.

We live in an age where pit bulls are still subject to banning because their considered a “aggressive breed”. If people are still defending Bungie at this point then it’s clear someone’s stupid enough to read something like you said, test it, get bit and have someone’s pet euthanized.

We are in luck then since player attrition is approaching 90%. But wait, yesterday you said that’s normal. That goalpost sure moves rapidly and often.
We are in luck then since player attrition is approaching 90%. But wait, yesterday you said that’s normal. That goalpost sure moves rapidly and often.
I showed him some steam numbers and it showed the good games growing - Like PUBG, ESO, and Warframe - and bad ones rapidly losing players. IIRC, only The Division and NMS sky has worse retention numbers. CoD and Assassin's Creed had better retention numbers. Crazy, right? What's worse is that those games only grew "because they were free or weren't shooters."
-
Sure do lol
We are in luck then since player attrition is approaching 90%. But wait, yesterday you said that’s normal. That goalpost sure moves rapidly and often.
Why do you continue to engage this guy? He is so blinded by his love of Bungie that there’s simply no reaching him. You could use kelly as a case study in confirmation bias or at least a intro level figurative language seminar on the use of false analogy.

Because I enjoy the back and forth. That’s all the reason I need. But... if you really want to know... I do respect him. Say what you want, but he will take the time to put together a coherent response. We aren’t going to convince one another of anything in most cases. We are both too opinionated. However, those following may get something from it. Entertainment? A better understanding of our viewpoints? Who knows? In the end I like to have my views challenged.
-
If you aren’t willing to have your views modified, then discussion is useless. You might as well be talking to yourself. Some things don’t boil down to black-and-white, and sometimes the objective is for two intelligent people to present a compelling enough case, that the other side of acknowledges it, and learns tolerance.
-
Whatever. I’m more than willing to have my views moved by a legit argument. I listened to him until he started on the tired line of “no skill”. THAT is a dead end for me. Why? Because it devalues any form of play the person doesn’t favor. It’s one of the root causes for nerfs - and I HATE what nerfs have done to this franchise. What we are playing right now is the ultimate nerf. When is enough enough? Yes, he’s asking for a quicker TTK, but only because it benefits HIM. It’s a self-serving argument as a content creator, because right now it’s impossible to create those 360 no-scope montages we used to see. His views and mine may overlap in some areas, but the root cause for the overlap is very different.

Edited by Synge_X: 12/3/2017 6:03:14 PMThank you for your thoughts, but this was more relating to a broader sense of having one’s views modified, and not in relation to me asking you if you had watched a video on another thread. However this does clear up how different his thoughts are versus yours and where you think he’s coming from. Anyone reading this is gonna have no idea what the hell were talking about lololol. Have a good one old friend:)

Attrition isn't 90%. When people cue up for strikes and Crucible matches and can't find a game? Then come find me. Because that is what player attrition was doing to The Division.
