I'm more impressed by everyone saying they're 50 and can manage to use a computer and the Bungie forums.

I'm 44 and the man who taught me PHP and other stuff passed away in his 90's. He got his start using computers in the Air Force with computers like UNIVAC. He was also an avid gamer and until his sight started to go could kick anyones arse in Halo. I miss that mean old coot.

I got news for you. Unless you're in the IT business, chances are a gamer in my age group (59) understands way more about how computers actually work than you do. When we started there was no such thing as plug and play. Games often took real effort to make them run. It wasn't unusual to have to search the Internet over your dial-up connection to find replacement files to download, find and replace the file in the os, edit or write a new .ini file, and hack the Windows registry just to make the game load. You've probably never even seen a BSoD. Personally, I've been active on forums since the 90's. First, Yahoo Groups, when I was a proud member of Dr. Toots Disturbing the Priests. Then Slashdot, where my karma was excellent. I've had the same tag I use now for 25 years. Most of us old guys have similar experience. So my point is.... Don't try to teach your grandma to suck eggs.

This. I remember copying win32 files into a safe folder for later use and then deleting them from the windows folder because they interfered with game files.

And the most op controller move was ctrl - alt - del.
Don't try to teach your grandma to suck eggs.
Well to be fair, only Stinky Whizzleteats can do that...

Ahhh... old Stinky... What she wouldn't do for a pint of Old Crow...
not much
I can't tell if you're upset or trying to prove a point.

Just f*cking around. We didn't have a color TV until I was in the 5th grade. Wrap your mind around that shit.
-
lol I was just saying. Honestly my post isn't saying the elderly are stupid or illiterate to technology. Just that most elderly people I know struggle on how to use an iPhone.
-
That's the point of my reply. A lot of 5th graders these days have a hd color TV in their pocket.
remember BASIC? ZX80 48k being a lot of memory??? games on 12 floppys?
Hahah ZX80 was my second computer (first was an Aquarius) I remember having to type all the code from a book into the dam thing just to play a game, if you can call moving a letter "y" left and right trying to avoid other letters a game 😂 Back then a wipe meant your younger brother accidentally knocking the computer, resulting in everything on the dam thing being wiped lol

Cheeky kid
-
Not really. Lol just saying most elderly people I work with I have to explain to them how to use an iPhone.

If you don't recognize good advice- then I got nothin else for ya. Peace Out

That wasn't good advice and your obviously couldn't comprehend what I had posted. You instantly got triggered an offended by it when it was in no way shape or form offensive. I'm sorry that you felt the need to get upset over a well foreseen compliment.
