Thank you. I haven't tried to stay far away and that could help in stage 2 with the explosion

Exactly. The fireballs spread as they go, so you'll see a much easier dodge. Plus, if you keep him away, he'll almost always go for his charging stabs, which are easy to see coming, and fairly simple to dodge. Especially since he can't combo out of them
