Since the start of Season of Opulence, I havent gone back to reckoning. With the nerf to some supers and a very random abysmal weapon drop chance, its very discouraging to go into an activity like that. Compared to activities like the Forges, Menagerie, and even Escalation Protocol, The Reckoning is pretty much more forgotten and uninteresting than Trey Smith (nah we love Will Smiths Kids right....*crickets*) Point is, there is some awesome loot in the Reckoning (Spare Rations, Doomsday, Gnawing Hunger to name some of my favorites), but both the activity and its lack of intentional grind is not appealing. With something like Menagerie where we know for certain what gun we want and even the masterwork, and the forges where we literally just pick the gun we want, Reckoning has no intentional way of grinding for their weapons. I can assume that it was intially meant to be exclusively an armor grind (you can get enhanced perks on them which is neat). But even with that, its a random armor chance for armor perks that (with the exception of the helmets) have minimal benefits on the gameplay (unflinching where?). So I was thinking of possible solutions that can probably come in Shadowkeep (which sucks because its relevancy will be super non existent but i understand priorities) that can maybe add some sort of intentionality. 1. Linking the weapons to the synths/motes: In Gambit Prime, the weapons drop with their curated rolls based on a task that you do in the match (killing 5 blockers can give you the Shotgun, depositing 50 motes can give you the hand cannon). I can possibly see an opportunity for the mote you deposit for Reckoning can be tied to a weapon for that week. So for instance, if i deposit an Invader mote, on top of the armor piece i get for completing the Reckoning, I also get a Gnawing Hunger. Completing a Reckoning run flawlessly can increase the chances for the curated roll. The only issue i can see is that each boss has 5 weapons tied to them and only 4 slots on the bank. I honestly cant think of a way for them to remedy that. 2. GIving Drifter extra weekly bounties: This one may be a little farfetched but kinda helpful. currently, there are no bounties tied to the Reckoning activity except for the bounties for the helmets. I think i would rather give the helmets a more D1 final boss vibes in which completing tier 3 boss can drop a notorious helmet (instead of waiting 3 weeks to get a notorious helmet if people had skipped Season of the Drifter). With this change to acquire the helmet, this leaves an opportunity to at least have bounties tied to the weapons. This would be similar to how Ada's bounties would work. You have the 5 weapon bounties that require specific tasks in Gambit Prime based on the bounty. Then, complete a Tier 3 Reckoning. Finally, once completed, it spits out that weapon for that week. The first time you complete it will be powerful, but then the rest of the week that weapon will drop at your soft cap, but will allow you to go into tier 2 if you want. Purchase the bounties with the Synths associated with it. 3. Add them to Ada's Arsenal bounties : This one is hit or miss but potentially similar to my second suggestion only that your going to Ada instead of the Drifter. Using Modulus Reports to purchase the frame from Ada that can require a specific task from the Reckoning. Once completed, go to a forge and complete it to get the weapon. It would be soft capped at your level, but instead of having a choice in what you want specifically, it will spit 1 of the 10 weapons. While it still has a sense of intentionality, it still requires potentially alot of grinding. But hey, beggars cant be choosers. Anyway what do you guys think? Anything you would like to add? Do you think these can work? Are these ideas dumb? Feedback is what Bungie wants, so lets keep it constructive and keep delivering it to them. EDIT: keep upvoting this and giving feedback on this post. Some of the comments have been in line with why I want these drops to be more intentional. EDIT 2: Thank you for all the feedback and continuously upvoting this post. I need to clarify something though: This isn’t a post saying that Reckoning is bad or horrible. Reckoning is a solid activity. It’s the reward structure that needs help. That’s what this post is about. Also, to the people who are saying to just grind it: I don’t think you also understand my point. There players on here who literally have grind that activity to the ground only not to get what they want. That’s not rewarding the players time. You are in the small percentage of players who got the gun that they wanted with the roll that you want. There are players who I guarantee played that content more times than you and never even seen the weapons they even want. So be considerate and understanding of what is being asked for here.

  • Why don’t they make it so that a prime weapon drops from the weekly gambit prime challenge?

    • Easiest way to grind any content from strikes to raids to activities.... Group up set a time limit, gear it towards that activity..... Got the gambit scout with rapid hit and multi kill clip... thing is a beast in crucible. Didnt even know about it either till I got it. Pve it's pretty solid too.

        • I would say tier 3 has 5 weapons so tie 4 of them to the motes and the one that's specifically for that week in tier 3 like gnawing hunger uses no mote at all .. and for the knights same way except the sword is the one you get if you don't put in a mote

            • I just got the liars handshake so I’m in prime grinding the shotty with one two punch. I’m actually getting drops with every weapon but that lol. I refuse to do reckoning anymore seeing it’s a complete debacle. But point being I’ve noticed the abysmal drop rate is a little better in prime now.

              • They should do it like d1's strike boon system. If you completed 3 strikes ( or 1, i dont remember exactly) and stayed in matchmaking, you got a buff to loot drops

                • I've only ever cleared tier 3 once. That was before the armor nerfs. After that one clear, I've been paired with nothing but morons. Strikers, Spectral Blades, Nova Warping do NOT HELP ON THE BRIDGE! Then if I get into a group that has enough common sense to get to the boss, someone always disconnects/quits. Not worth the spike in blood pressure. If the Callus bounty didn't require me to, I wouldn't go down to that room ever again.

                • Reckoning needs to be reworked to make the juice worth the squeeze. I would resume playing it, if the activity had better drop rates. I actually don't mind the game mode and can be fun if your with a good group.
Those Reckoning weapons we still want.
These are not Reckoning weapons. These are actually Gambit Prime weapons that you can get in Gambit Prime while earning medals that also have a chance of dropping on a tier 3 reckoning boss kill. I have gotten far more weapons by playing GP than I have Reckoning.

What they need to do is remove blues from the boss drops. Its absurd that blues drop when completing the reckoning and you beat the boss when there are four weapons that drop from the knight encounter and the Oryx encounter, and all the weapons drop with random rolls. Blues should not be in the loot pool at all.

Bought the season pass recently, played prime once, never been to the Reckoning. Don't see the point with Bungie they'll make everything obsolete in Sept anyways.

                    • Be cool if xur or someone like xur. A thief of sorts, stole the weapons on a weekly basis and we done bounties to do them. If it was play 5 strikes, 5 pvp matches and 1 gambit match. I'd do it. But anything around gambit, like play 5 matches or more. -blam!- that. Hate gambit. I'd rather waste my life digging dirt for no reason.

                    • I picked other, but this is actually a combination of some of offerings. Just add Ada-like bounties at Drifter. That's it. For additional fee (same motes) - you select masterwork if you care, just like in Menagerie. I think 5 motes per weapon plus some more for mastework I'd say 3 is more than enough. I don't play Gambit any more, but I have like 50 stacks of various synths in my vault. Fee shouldn't be tied to any particular motes (to prevent conflicting while earning these motes), meaning you should be able to pay for bounty AND masterwork with any of motes. Just have them. So if you enjoy playing Sentry - go ahead and pay with yellow. Otherwise we'll have situation I'm waaay too familiar with, when I was playing a collector and ended up delivering fewer motes than our invader. Because everyone loses their mind and tried to bank 50. Got invaded, wiped, lost motes, match lost as well, dealing with several giant blockers is so much fun, when no one has special or power or super. Ah, glorious 200 prime matches.

                    • Keep it as it is and spend the time creating new content. The reckoning weapons are some of the best, it should be difficult. Did you know that if you form a four man fireteam and use comms, it's actually very easy to complete. Weird

Yeah we're just going to keep those the same post super nerf".
