Keep it as it is and spend the time creating new content. The reckoning weapons are some of the best, it should be difficult. Did you know that if you form a four man fireteam and use comms, it's actually very easy to complete. Weird

That isn't the problem. The issue does not arise from the amount of time it takes... it arises from how rare the weapons ARE. You don't need a four man fireteam to suddenly fix drop rates. I've run it multiple times with groups of four in chat... and their RNG has always been as consistently awful as mine. Shut the hell up.
