I’m not a fan of this, for one large reason.
If the seasonal weapons are not craftable, then that means I need to keep 1-2 (depending on how much I like the weapon) rolls of it with the vault space that I don’t have. That means what, like 9-18 slots filled in my vault and 3 characters?
Or we could just have it to where the weapons are craftable again so that way if I want to craft that crappy no reprieve shotty from way back when, then I can go ahead and do it to find out that I want to dismantle it (“safely” knowing that I can craft it again in case I want to). But I guess that may just be me and a lonely few.
If this is the new direction moving forward then I might be parting ways after growing up with this game since Day 1 of D1.
Apparently a majority of the community thinks crafting is a bad thing. Idk why. I think EVERY gun that releases now should be crafrable.

The majority does not think that, it's just a loud minority trying to destroy things as normal.

The argument is that it removes the gear chase, which is a major part of looter shooters. I think it's a fair step to restore some of that, especially when it's only seasonal weapons, and when it's not forever. Those weapons will eventually become craftable, just not in the season they release. Using crafting as a catch-up mechanic and not the prime source of best-in-slot gear is what they're going for, which I think is fine and a good compromise instead of having everything craftable or having nothing craftable. Not expecting to change your mind on it. Just providing perspective from the other side.
The argument is that it removes the gear chase, which is a major part of looter shooters.
They don't have to craft. Let them grind to their heart's content. Just don't go to the enclave. CHASE FOREVER Guardian! There was a healthy mix of non-craftables to begin with.

Until EVERY weapon is enhancable, this is a poor argument that I myself use to make. There are best-in-slot weapons that you can only get the best version of via crafting. If they were to make literally any weapon enhancable, so that they could just farm their roll and then enhance the perks to be the same as crafted, i'll probably go back to agreeing with you. Unfortunately that isn't currently the case.

They even said they would be adding more older weapons to that list. What craftable weapons are best in slot that you can't enhance that needed to be non-craftable going forward? From what I've seen there's no crafted weapons in the top 10 of trials and 1 out of 20 in every other form of Crucible. Trials, Quickplay, and Competitive. The Someday is the only craftable legendary in the top 20. That will be completely replaced by Deadlock very soon. The vast majority of the current PvE meta is non crafted weapons as well. 2/10 of the current top PvE primaries this week are craftable legendaries. 2/10 of the current top PvE secondaries this week are craftable legendaries.

Many is not every and adding more doesn't mean every.

Modificato da Seiryoku: 10/10/2024 2:01:54 PM
Many is not every and adding more doesn't mean every.
??? There are an incredible number of legendaries in the game. Many have been phased out over time due to power creep. Which was a symptom of the game long before crafting. Even still they choose to enhance some of the old favorites. Every one of them is not necessary. And would be a balancing nightmare. The ones that are "best in slot" are. I pointed out most of these things aren't even at the top of the meta. Things as old as Bygones are returning with new enhancement. Adding more, when they design the meta, is what allows people to chase what ever they want to their hearts content. Nothing said here demands the need to strictly return to old grinding methods. One camp of people could continue chasing rolls if they want, even with the advent of crafting. By ignoring the system. Others, who wanted to eventually actually have the god roll, few of which are actually meta when looking at the data, also had to grind out their red borders, but they knew they would eventually have it. Now they have no such security in seasonal content. Those people will play less. Not more. The addicts with stockholm will obviously continually grind. But I don't need to convince you of anything. What's happened has happened. Just hope it doesn't bite them in the 🫏 at a time when the game is struggling.

Cuz I'll usually get my god roll long before I get the 5 red borders for crafting, so in my experience mos too the time it takes MORE grind to craft than just farm the weapon normally

It's not just "your" god roll. You get ALL potential rolls at your disposal. Thats part of it too. What used to be excitement over getting the pve roll or pvp roll, or a weird roll that sounds so stupid that you think "i gotta see how dog -blam!- this roll is" so you try it for poops n gigs. All that gets gutted. I still have fond D1 memories of getting some ridiculous rolls that made guns a menace, assuming the luck of the draw was on your side. Or getting my first edge transit after forsaken and wondering why I got another 20 the same day XD. Or finishing a GM and getting the god roll as the cherry on top. I still remember playing the forges with friends back after forsaken and all of us talking about what drops we got after clearing the forge. I have zero fond memories of getting another red border and sharing the excitement with friends because all it was, was "oh look its red-delete-" Zero fond memories of waddling my character off to the remnants of Mars to go craft a weapon so I can sit at the entrance of GoA and farm the infinite spawn.
