Because it’s a lie. It does absolutely nothing. Anyone that says otherwise is either lying or has drank way too much Bungie kook-aid.
I have done the mechanics to increase drops and I have done none of the mechanics to increase the drops and it made absolutely no difference in any of the activities that offer it.
It is STILL random no matter what you do.

Raising the amount of numbers that will get you the exotic doesn't mean it's not still RNG lol. So yes, it's still random. Nothing in or out of the game is claiming that completing those triumphs DOESN'T make it random anymore.

Yes, what you say is true, but nothing about completing those triumphs actually quantifies the increase in drop chance. If your base drop chance is 0.2% and doing the triumphs increases your drop chance by 0.02% you are now at 0.22% with is so insignificant as to be not helpful in getting a drop. Keep in mind these are made numbers to demonstrate a point. No information on how much the bonus to drop chance is, basically says it is SO small as to be negligible. Random is random, but increasing a drop chance by a supper small amount does not effectively change the drop chance. Bungie keeping it secret only serves to say it is tiny.

As soon as i finished my solo dungeon runs for ghosts of the deep and warlord's ruin, the very next week's run the exotic dropped. both times.
