It's slower at first, a little boring, but it gets really fun as long as you aren't expecting a super fast paced action game. It's more an exploration game than an action one. It also has some of the toughest decisions I've made in any game.

Definitely, there are some occasions where you will get attacked in space or on planets, and that can kill you, but most of the game is peaceful.

It also depends on where you go, some places are nice, others will have things attack you on sight.
