Why?
When like you say we already have guns that fit this archetype
You also have Hardlight if you want an exotic

I think you may be misunderstanding what op is saying, or maybe I am. The way I'm understanding is not to add new weapons under that archetype, but to change existing weapons that fit it and also new weapons that would fit to be considered an SMG. It makes sense. I mean think about it. Those high rof "autorifles" never needed anything done to them for balancing purposes. The lower rof ones with high impact were always the ones with the issues. Call them SMG's and either buff or leave them alone while nerfing the low rof high impact ones way back then, and the issues aren't nearly as bad as now.

Ok I think I get it Change the design so its not just a re skinned auto rifle and actually looks like an smg

Right, and treat it differently so they aren't negatively or too positively affected when unnecessary while playing with other types of weapons.

It gets boring real fast, when 10 people ask the same question... It's inconsistant... There is a certain definition for an SMG. And the bullet hose AR archetype fits that definition very well. What's the point of considering a Necrochasm an Autorifle when a Suros Regime is one as well? Those 2 weapons force a completely different playstyle. Now, if I play with a high or low RoF handcannon, the difference in terms of gameplay are negligible. It's consistant, to have Handcannon archetypes here. An extremely high RoF AR however, with ridiculously low damage per bullet however, fits the definition of an SMG much better than the definition of an AR. It would also make sense for balancing purposes. Balancing bullet hoses separately from real AR, would make quite a bit of sense as well.
