I don’t understand why people (specifically liberals for some reason) fail to understand that people can be sh#tters, doesn’t matter who you are, where your from, your principals etc. the world has always been this way, it’s not new. So you can rant about this which if fine, everyone should to ease the frustration, but you have to come to the realization that words are words and only you can make them real. Everyone has this issue, I used to take things so seriously and easily. let my feelings get hurt when ppl would insult me or my family, but after awhile I realized that I am making these insults have an affect and I tell you, letting something hurt you can do more damage to the environment then someone who’s trying to verbally hurt you. The best thing is to just not take it, remind yourself who your dealing with and know that this is the internet and ppl speak out of they’re a$$, get used to it. Remember as well, you can defend yourself, don’t let ppl role over you. That shows weakness and when ppl just embrace it, you will be bullied your whole life. Show them who’s boss, tell them to put they’re money where theyre mouth is (this is to trash talkers) and for ppl who make fun of your accent which…is like not even something ppl complain or tease about, some ppl just can’t understand sometimes. Like I have a buddy who I met doing masters and he’s from like Northern Ireland and he has the strongest accent and we just can’t understand him sometimes, but he’s still a chill dude. So point is, learn to take it in, suck it up and show them. If you can’t learn to defend yourself and just play the victim then this issue your dealing with will continue for the rest of your life. Welcome to the world
"I don't understand why" is always a red flag, and so is "especially liberals". Prejudice is not a political issue. It applies to everybody no matter what their political views are.... Im digressing... I don't think politics has anything to do with peoples sensativity to hate speech. Most reasonable people would agree it's uncalled for. There is a great deal of difference between a bit of banter and then picking on or bullying somebody for their unchanging characteristics. I'm not liberal but I really don't even see why that is a relevant piece of information in the context of this conversation anyway. You're correct by the way, the world has always been this way... mostly decent people but also with pockets of unsavoury human beings who pick on others for no good reason but instead out of sheer ignorance, but, the world is changing. Minorities are standing up for themselves and some insist that an "it is what it is" approach will do, but many now agree that's not the way to make change. We shouldn't just sit back and be pin cushions for somebodies bad day. I don't make prejudice have an effect on me. I'm sick and tired of people telling me to toughen or get used to it. Words have an effect on everybody and most are tollerable words but anybody who expects minorities groups to just get verbally battered and turn a blind eye is not an ally. I'll never just "get used to it" I'll always fight back with intelligent challenges. Our communities haven't learned to be tolerant of differences by just sitting back. Minorities, like me have fought long and hard and we continue to do so until this ends. The idea it won't change is rubbish. We've made leaps and bounds of progress over the last few decades and will continue to do just that for as many as it takes to be fully accepted and treated as equals. When somebody insults our personal traits they are not making fun of our trousers or shoes they are attacking us at the core of what makes us who we are and that's why we don't stand for it. You suggest I can defend myself so I'm not sure what you think this post is about exactly? I am doing just that but not by having a childish argument with one silly individual who will just defend themselves by talking over others with more insults, but instead making it a fair and decent debate in a forum that belongs to the game it happens in. Good people open up dialogue rather than having shouting matches ect. Despite my attempts to defend myself (which I do all the time in my everyday life) bigots are relentless. Its tough being a minority at the best of times. We have to be tough. Calling us weak is just adding insult to injury 🤷‍♂️ Don't make myself a victim? I am a victim by default, I don't choose it. In a world where prejudice views exist there will always be unwitting victims. I don't need to play one when I am made one by viscous language and bullying. This problem will continue unless I stand up to the bullying and I do and so do most people like me. Making a post in a forum when the problem exists within the game is standing up to the bullies. You think I haven't been bullied here afterwards? I'm offering a rebuttal to that kind of behaviour in a grown and constructive manner. Passive posts that attempt to blame me for being "too soft" or "too sensative" are just comments that attempt to sweep the problem under the carpet. As with everybody else who sounds just like you, I'm sure you mean it from a good place or at least hope that's what it is but being told I'm playing a victim or that I don't stick up for myself ect is simply of no use to me. I do defend myself, I am not soft in the slightest, I don't need to be upset or crying on my knees to speak out about prejudice and hate speech and I don't make myself a victim, hateful ideologies and language do that for me. Have a nice weekend.
