Sounds fair, although rather than the passage of Pity denying all losses, I think it should just allow for more on a card, 5 perhaps? So it makes it easier for worse players, but still is somewhat competitive. Trials shouldn't reward solely time investment imo.

And, at least with how it is now, I know a lot of people that would not be able to win no matter how much time you gave them, especially the last game where they would face other people with 6 wins.
