One of the improvements in this game over the original destiny is that you can continue to use the weapons you like Got a scout rifle with a good roll you love You can keep powering it up along with you and use it in the newest raid it is part of your guardians journey The decision to retire legendary weapons is a horrible decision what is the point of hours of playtime grinding for that perfect roll if the gun is just going to be spare parts in a few months You have taken the loot out of the looter shooter I have been playing this game since it came out and stuck through everything the good and the bad but this is crossing the line for me
Not saying I agree with Bungie's approach, but I can see why they do it :/. This is especially true for crucible, I really don't want to keep going against (RationBender) for 2-3 more years of this game. I want the meta to change as more (and hopefully more exciting) content releases, not "oh cool let me use this for 2 days and then go right back to what I was using before". There obviously are better alternatives, but it isn't unjustified. And it's not for regular play, it's more for end game PvE, and hopefully PvP too.

Edited by The Hermit IX: 3/2/2020 7:11:57 PMIt won’t change crucible load outs except for IB and Trials seeing light level matters in both activities. Players won’t grind weapons for perfect rolls moving forward. The concept is self defeating and is a completely failed philosophy they walked back from in D1. A god roll kindled orchid isn’t making their developers stay up at night wondering how it will be broken in new content. This is the way to phase out old perks they don’t want players to have and replacing them with watered down tripe instead. It’s yet another move backward and shows there’s simply no vision with game since Forsaken. I love the game but they really need to step back and think about how insulting this is to players who spent countless hours grinding perfect rolls. Our load outs should be our choice not them corralling us into what they’d prefer us to use to make their content easier to design. It’s absurd that they are even considering this.

But I agree with what you said, I'll say again, I don't agree with what bungie is doing, but there is an arguement for both sides.

I saw trials but didn’t realize IB too. Bottom line is they shouldn’t be doing this. We earned the weapons we have through grind and it should remain our choice what to use, not theirs.

And it still is usable, the implamentaion of this system will apply to end game content (raids, ordeal NF), the core of it will still be usable, but in modes that require power levels, you will need to change things up every 9 - 15 months. I think that's plenty of time to use your gear before exploring other pieces? I think it'll be fun to find new pieces of gear to grind for, I'm personally bored with PvE rn because it's boring using the same things day in day out. Ofc, forcing people to phase out gear is a no no, but the idea I think wasn't malicious in any way, Bungie is making content, and I think they just want people to use it you know?

No over time the cap will relegate them to useless. Power goes up at least 10 each season. How much for a DLC? If what they’re saying actually is the case players load outs won’t change so it’s self defeating. No they’re phasing things out to replace them with watered down versions. They need to make better weapons not take them away. If they put the identical roll on weapons with better handling or stability, most would grind them and use them instead. You really think a god rolled bygones or kindled orchid is a issue in any phase of the game? It isn’t and it certainly isn’t keeping the developers up at night wondering if they’d be broken in new content. Everything that was said in DC made zero sense outside of creating a new thrill with the game. They need to spend time actually fixing the game and separating PVE and PVP. Season of the fix is what they should be planning not this nonsense.
