One of the improvements in this game over the original destiny is that you can continue to use the weapons you like Got a scout rifle with a good roll you love You can keep powering it up along with you and use it in the newest raid it is part of your guardians journey The decision to retire legendary weapons is a horrible decision what is the point of hours of playtime grinding for that perfect roll if the gun is just going to be spare parts in a few months You have taken the loot out of the looter shooter I have been playing this game since it came out and stuck through everything the good and the bad but this is crossing the line for me

I agree that weapons shouldn't be retired but im curious to see what happens to all the people who only use one weapon. I honestly think it's just going to lead to exotics becoming meta.

The dir cut was the warm up telling us they’re going to take a giant shit on their customers. Yes we are customers. The next cut will tell us when they’re going to deuce on us. My thoughts is that I’ve players close to 3000 hrs of d2. And several hundred dollars on game and expansions. Once I know the Cleveland steam roller is getting dropped. I’m out. These shisters aren’t going to do anything until October. They want all the tendies from new annual pass sales before the drop the news.

4 RepliesMy concern is drang gets the power cap. I recently started using the sturm and drang pair and I gotta say its actually a fun combo. It's more goofy to use then unlike say iznagi and recluse or luna. But overall I still believe that the weapon cap thing I'd the dumbest ideas that they're trying to bring back. No one liked it before and no one will like it again. They need to stop with this stubborn attitude thinking people want their hard work taken from them.

at this point this "Line" is more like a skip rope and bungie has "crossed" this line quite often..=)

What about player retirement?

Iron banner and trials matters for lvl and if you can't infuse them to bring them up then it's pointless. And what about recluse, 21 delirium, revoker, and all the other reward based guns that we worked our butts for and now in the game they will not be viable in raids, nightfalls, and other high lvl activities.

Anyone got a source link to the Weapon Retirement post by bungie? I can't find it anywhere.

Bungie will continue to collect and forward feedback concerning this feature throughout the holiday season. They know they sound like a broken record - but this is what they’re here to do. They have been watching the conversation and recording feedback. There’s a lot to talk about in 2018.

Then put it down as a vote. I would like to see upvotes here (536) be matched there if possible. It's one thing that people agree with the topic of not liking it. Why not put it as an easy to understand response?

That’s a long sentence.

Though I'll admit this potential change has made me look around to see what other games are coming that I might be interested in, I highly doubt I completely stop playing because of it, so I won't claim that I'm not going to buy another update. But, It is feeling like a straw that might break the camel's back. I see a lot of people here agree with me, but I also see some that think we're crazy and that this is going to be a good thing for the game. I respect that opinion so I hope they can respect mine, and I actually hope they are right, but here is why I think I'm right (at least for me personally). I didn't mind there not being random rolls, it felt less complicated and easy to deal with, but random rolls adds a thrill to grinding and farming, playing for hours on end in search of the roll that fits my game style. I found myself putting a lot more time into the game, whether it was for simple farming, or grinding difficult quests or triumphs. There are still weapons that I would continue to grind for because I know I could get a slightly better version. But what's the point now? Though I may not be giving up the game, I know for a fact that I'm done grinding for weapons and won't play as much. I'll get whatever new weapons I get naturally and call it a day. I won't be wasting my time to acquire weapons that have a shelf life. Yes I think we're all aware that other MMOs do this, but that is part of what sets Destiny apart. If they actually go through with this, my hope is actually that they simply go back to curated rolls on new weapons. That's a shame, I know. I also would hope they will not do this to weapons that required a quest. And though re-skinning a weapon will bother me, whether they keep random rolls or not, I'd rather have an "Antipode-D V2" with a different set of perks than the original than a weapon with Antiope's specs masquerading as a "brand new weapon". So though I understand the argument some of you have that this could be a good thing because the point of this change is to get us to want to play more and keep buying, it doesn't change the fact that I know this will have the opposite effect on me (and apparently a lot of us) that we simply won't waste as much time.

146 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 3/2/2020 4:20:45 PMWhat is the point of playing a loot game if you're going to get ONE weapon....and keep levelling that one weapon up for the rest of the game's life?
what is the point of hours of playtime grinding for that perfect roll if the gun is just going to be spare parts in a few months
1. No one is "scrapping" your weapon. Only you are going to do that. Bungie is just going to do what EVERY OTHER LOOT GAME DOES....put a CAP on the weapon's item (power) level. You can still use the weapon in other parts of the game where you don't need to be max power, or where level advantage isn't enabled (like regular Crucible). 2. The Point is that youget to enjoy using the weapon, but in a way that doesn't damage the game as a whole.
You have taken the loot out of the looter shooter
Actually just the opposite. What we have been doing for the last two years as been doing that. Seriously. Go take a look at your vault. Look and see just HOW many weapons you have that are basically just RESKINS of the same basic weapon types...with the same basic weapon perks? You brought up scout rifles. Here's Randy's Throwing Knife: https://www.light.gg/db/items/3535742959/randys-throwing-knife/ And here is Black Scorpion: https://www.light.gg/db/items/525750263/black-scorpion-4sr/ They are basically the SAME WEAPON with minor tweaks to the base stats. Only RTK is a kinetic weapon..and BS is an energy weapon. Lets look at pulse rifles: Blast Furnace from the Black Armory last year: https://www.light.gg/db/items/3843477312/blast-furnace/ ...and this year's raid pulse rifle, Sacred Provenance: https://www.light.gg/db/items/2408405461/sacred-provenance/ Once again....basically the same weapon with minor tweaks to the base stats, and available perks. TLDR: Because Bungie hasn't been wiling to retire weapons from the game like every OTHER looter-shooter....we've fallen into this RUT where basically they keep reskinning the same weapons and giving them back to us with different cosmetics. There all within this very SAFE power channel....and Bungie has dealt with the outliers with serial NERFS. In short. Loot has been taken out of the game....and we keep grinding for the same loot over and over again. They just LOOK different.

It is a choice based issue, its about what the player wants to use and has been in D2 and way back in D1. in D1 these issues weren't present so i don't know what they started doing but they should focus on seeing the things they did right in D1 and and trying to adopt them into D2 or the concepts at least it may help but who knows what's going on over at bungie, we just have to wait and see.

20 RepliesThe moment i heard this, like a light switch, thought well I'm done with Destiny. 100% of its fun has been cancelled...
-
The point is, that is what this type of game is grindy. If theres nothing to grind for what's the point. Too many weapons in this game are irrelevant already and just clutter the vault, what's the point in keeping them collecting dust! The only time I will complain is that if the new weapons they replace them with are pointless re-skins!

I crossed the line once. It was the egg and spoon race.

5 RepliesI think it’s a good idea because there won’t be any mindbenders or lunas spare rations or revoker

Edited by everwilling: 3/3/2020 12:19:37 AMMeh not that big of a deal. The weapon has 9-15 months ! People sit on the same weapons all the time . Good to shake things up.

I guess I’ll just agree to disagree with all of these posts. I’m ok with using a weapon for a while and then putting it down. Now I’ll pay more attention to new loot. I haven’t really done that in a while.
-
Weapon retirement should have been in the game since Day 1. Without it, once you get the most powerful weapons there is no need to farm anything else. Sure I can get a god roll steelfeather repeater very easy but why would I bother? I would never use it as there are plenty of other ARs that are more powerful. You can continue this with any weapon available in the obelisk. Just used the obelisk as an example since it's the newest content.
-
This is what looter shooters do, replace the old with new. You're not losing the weapon, just cant use it in end game environments. Its shocking to me, but people are making a bigger deal of this and they will not change this. Additionally, you and all the other people will not stop playing, let's not kid ourselves people. That being said, find new weapons and stop crutching or stop playing, I dare you.....you won't.

It’s actually pretty hard to not use punctuation in a block text that large. Well done!

3 RepliesWe all talk a good game, but our curiosity and love for it keeps us coming back. Sad, yes. But true. See you in Season of the Worthy guardian(s). Bungie counts on this. And for now they keep succeeding. We have to find a way to change the outcome.

2 RepliesIf they don’t retire the weapons you worked hard to earn how are they going to get you to chase a reskined version. I too have spent my last dollar on this game. Let’s see if the trials players can generate the revenue to support this game
