"He who controls the medium controls the message. He who controls the message controls the masses."
- Paul Joseph Goebbels
Trump doesn’t like the free press because he can’t control what they say. Fortunately because of the constitution he has very little power to actually stop the free press. So if he can’t control the press he instead resorts to undermining it.
Because the media won’t play ball with his agenda he deliberately tries to erode the public’s trust in it. Which seems to be working sadly. Many people don’t seem to recognise the danger of government (on either side of politics) undermining the free press.
Lügenpresse
Translation “lying press”. A saying used by the Näzis to undermine the German free press during the thirties. Sound familiar?

One of the more recent examples of Trump trying (and absolutely failing) at censoring the media is how he tried to force Jim Acosta out of the Press Room. Never mind the blatant disregard of the 1st Amendment and his due process rights, but a federal judge that was appointed by Trump was the one who forced Trump's administration to restore CNN's press pass. Even though I heavily dislike Fox News and their farce of a motto, I at least acknowledge that they have a viewpoint, even if I don't agree with it. Same with MSNBC.

You do realize that the Left used Goebbels ideas to control the MSM and the educational system. Not too mention trying to take people's gun rights and the promotion of abortion. All those things happened during Goebbels time and Dems are repeating them.
