It seems like he's afraid of any form of criticism, whether it be legitimate or fake criticism. From what I've seen, he only seems to think news is real if it is praising him, even if it's legitimate fake news sources like InfoWars, Daily Wire, and Breitbart.

He who controls the message controls the masses."
- Paul Joseph Goebbels Trump doesn’t like the free press because he can’t control what they say. Fortunately because of the constitution he has very little power to actually stop the free press. So if he can’t control the press he instead resorts to undermining it. Because the media won’t play ball with his agenda he deliberately tries to erode the public’s trust in it. Which seems to be working sadly. Many people don’t seem to recognise the danger of government (on either side of politics) undermining the free press.
Lügenpresse
Translation “lying press”. A saying used by the Näzis to undermine the German free press during the thirties. Sound familiar?

I can't trust what Trump says. But then, I also can't trust what the media says. What a conundrum.

It’s a flashy catchphrase that his base can regurgitate to protect their opinion of him in the face of criticism, regardless of its legitimacy. Media outlets on both sides of the spectrum either exaggerate or totally fabricate news to skew or reinforce public opinion, but Trump, on a different kind of spectrum, conveniently turns a blind eye towards right-wing misinformation.

He's kinda right. News stations only really cover death and destruction. I think of it as 'Exaggerated News'.

6 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 11/28/2018 5:11:48 PMTrump is almost certainly suffering from what is called "Narcissistic Personality Disorder". Its a rare psychiatric problem where someone----usually as a result of severe abuse or neglect as a child---fail to develop a healthy self-concept. Or what is called a "healthy ego". Someone with a healthy ego can see themselves in balanced way. They understand that they are combination of good traits....bad traits. They do good things....they make mistakes. They get things right...and they get things wrong. They can accept responsibility for the things they do bad/wrong...and act to fix them. They can also maintain a good sense of their "goodness" when they are being unfairly criticized. Other people and their feelings are "real " to them. Or they can "empathize" with other people. (IOW, if I accidently elbow you, I understand that what I did caused you pain that you didn't deserve...and I APOLOGIZE to you for what I did. Even though it was unintentional.) Someone who has a narcissistic personality disorder can't do these things. Their "ego"----or sense of personal goodness and competence----is so fragile that the only way they can maintain it is to become what we call "grandiose". Think of a pufferfish when its being threatned by a predator. It blows itself up to many times its normal size in order to try to fool that predator into thinking its bigger and more of a threat than it actually is...so that the predator leaves it alone. A narcissitic ego uses grandiosity to protect itself from the bumps and shocks of a world that it can't handle in a healthier way. So instead of seeing himself in a balanced way, Trump seems himself as "special" and "perfect" in every way, and "entitled" to an endless stream of praise. Naturally the world is NOT going to co-operate with that need. So what Narcissists do is that they have a whole set of elaborate mental defenses----character defenses----that essentially REINTERPRET reality or manipulate relationships so that they either get their need for praise met. Or deflect away or distract deserved criticism. TLDR: Long story short. YES, the President is frightened of bad criticism because his sense of who he is too fragile to handle it. So he convinces himself that he is NEVER wrong, and that anytime he's in conflict with anyone else it is ENTIRELY their fault. Which is why you never see him apologize for anything. You never see him admit to any kind of error or mistake. Anyone who dares to criticize him gets attacked or raged at. Any news outlet that criticizes him is "fake news". His confrontation with Jim Acosta was classic Narcissist. Acosta threw him what is a standard "tough question" that you'd expect as President. Journalists call it a "hardball". A "normal" politician would have simply deflected the question. Either changed the subject....or given a "non-answer answer" that said a lot but didn't mean much. We've all seen it. But Trump was probably caught unprepared to answer it. (Narcissists never think the rules other people have to follow apply to them). So instead of just bullshitting his way through the answer....he lashed out instead and attacked the person asking it. So he could convince himself that the conflict occurred because Jim Acosta was a "bad person"....rather than a person doing his job, and Trump himself was unprepared to do his own. The TLDR is TLDR: "When a neurotic is in conflict with the world, he believes that he's always at fault. When someone with a personality disorder is in conflict with the world, he thinks that its always the world at fault. " ---Scott Peck MD. We have a President with a personality disorder, and whenever he and the world are at-odds its always the world's fault...and the world is unfairly victimizing him. IOW, we have someone sitting in the most powerful office in the world....who has the emotional maturity of an under-parented 5 year old.

3 RepliesThe Phony Witch Hunt continues, but Mueller and his gang of Angry Dems are only looking at one side, not the other. Wait until it comes out how horribly & viciously they are treating people, ruining lives for them refusing to lie. Mueller is a conflicted prosecutor gone rogue.... ....The Fake News Media builds Bob Mueller up as a Saint, when in actuality he is the exact opposite. He is doing TREMENDOUS damage to our Criminal Justice System, where he is only looking at one side and not the other. Heroes will come of this, and it won’t be Mueller and his... ....terrible Gang of Angry Democrats. Look at their past, and look where they come from. The now $30,000,000 Witch Hunt continues and they’ve got nothing but ruined lives. Where is the Server? Let these terrible people go back to the Clinton Foundation and “Justice” Department!

Edited by Abe Lackman: 11/28/2018 11:52:48 PMTrump is a narcissistic fascist. This combo literally explains everything about him and his presidency.

Because the Mainstream media is promoting fake news. They take any story they can and spin it as an outrage moment. Their news is almost 90% negative about Trump and his policies and promote anti-Trump talking points from the left. People distrust the MSM more than Trump according to the latest polls. Independent groups that check news stories report that the MSM news stories are 90% anti-Trump. CNN and MSNBC dont have fair reporting practices when it comes to stories they are talking about. The people they have on to talk a out about said stories are either Never Trumpers or leftist Dems. MSNBC is the worst about it because of their inability to get a person to talk on their shows that give the otherside's perspective. MSNBC is a propaganda news channel and CNN isnt far behind it.

1 ReplyPretty much. Anything that goes against what he says/thinks or points out something negative about him, is considered fake news by him and his supporters. So basically they think he is right 100% of the time.

is he scared of bad criticism?
Because it's fake. Because they lie to push their anti conservative narrative. If you have spent the last few years living under a rock and need examples feel free to ask.

He’s one of those people that doesn’t listen to anything. He’s that guy you know that just waits to talk.

He is simply trying to destroy democracy. He wants to invalidate anything negative about himself. Fake News exists. It's usually the stuff you see on Facebook that cant be verified. Hes taken anything negative about him and labeled it fake news. It's actually called responsible journalism.

Hurts his feelings.

He enjoys getting his base riled up. Some of the time, it's fairly accurate if you're talking about specific stories or articles but he throws it around like he does because he knows the reactions it'll get. The left gets mad, his base gets mad (for different reasons) and the rest of us just don't care all that much and wish he'd shut up.
