• How is it dumber? Bungie has put a cap on the grind, and for a game that made one of its biggest marketing slogans “there will be a ton of loot” it sure screwed the pooch in that aspect. Random rolls gives us something to do. I’m sorry if you only play the game for pvp or if you’re a game hopper and only play destiny to get through the campaign and move on, but some of us sink thousands of hours in the game to collect unique loot. It’s the core of the game because every other aspect of the game has sucked since the beginning of destiny 1. The game sucks, and the only thing going for it was the grind for random rolls.

  • Its a dumb grinding mechanic that only frustrates players... It was never a good option. Ever. Which is why these forums blew up crying for weapon rerolling in D1...

  • It’s a wonderful mechanic that lets us chase something. Very rarely has a perk broken the meta. In fact, a hand cannon with exhumed and graverobber would probably perform just as well as the same hand cannon with rangefinder and hidden hand. So there’s no reason we can’t have random rolls. It’s the chase. It’s fun for me. And if it’s not fun for you then I hope you find another game because this is my game and I want it the way I want it

  • I said this in an earlier reply but could this be so bad if.... How about if they do both? Static and Random rolls? ☆Certain activities☆(Quickplay, Standard Strikes, Normal Nightfall, Normal Raid?) produce the standard roll. Better Devils, Nameless, etc. ☆Others☆[Lost sectors, Public Events, Prestige Nightfall&Raid, and Plz Competitive! Maybe Heroic Adventures?) These drop random roll counterparts! *Some will be better than the Statics but if you want something reliable, the Static roll is still an option! You know what to expect. Either can be masterwork! I mean all these activities are okay to play but often i do find myself wanting a reason to play them. RAndom rolls (to me) add that sense of discovery, replayability and Really made a weapon feel "unique" in my arsenal. Please lets keep this discussion

Yes but basically we learn 4rm the past. We implement a new syatem with hopefully 'better measures'. Lets think..... What were the cons of random rolls? Not getting the God Roll gun right? Or was it the elongated grind without 'assurance' of good loot? The pros of Random Rolls are just as vast, unique gun once obtained, sense of unknown discovery when collecting loot, a much more diverse gunplay in the crucible, different and creative loadouts for endgame/any activity. As it is now right, you look for a gun you want, Uriels Gift for example, obtain about 3 or the course of a few weeks(one for each character maybe?), after that you will end up dismantling every single one after that. There is literally no incentive to keep it. The only thing that makes my Gift different from your Gift is: Shader&Masterwork trait. To me this kills overall replay ability, I mean just last week we had Faction Rally and we all know how Dry Content was. What if a few of the faction guns came with Random Rolls? Who would have grinded a lil bit more for those weapons? It would have at least made it interesting a sandbox, plus shook up the meta. Im not saying make everything Random, because i get what the devs meant when they wanted certain weapons to have their own "Personality" to speak(ex.Better Devils, Uriels, Nameless, Antiope). And i get that some rare few NEVER get what they hunt for, i get that. But also try to understand the Random Rollers viewpoint as well. We play an enormous amount, and at the end of the day, the content looses its flair because when you know that every piece of loot is basically getting dismantled why play? Bring us back the mystery, let us hunt if we ant to hunt, shit we gonna play it almost every week anyway. Let us do prestige arms dealer over and over like Omnigul for that hidden gem! Bring back personality and ownership back to our arsenal. Let my Uriels gift come with Candle sight, give the Jiangshi High Call rounds, Bad News with explosive rounds. Im not saying totally git rid of one over the other, but you can attempt to please both it would seem. Keep low key activites Static Rolls, you know its a good, sturdy, reliable gun that can hold its own. Endgame Chasers are gonna replay endgame activity, so make the rewards re-lootable. I want to feel as though i dont know what im going to get sometimes versus, Vault space = 197. No need for this, hold square to delete.

  • Yes I would be on board for this and it would temporarily feed the need for a grind

  • Right? I mean eventually something "worthwhile" would come out of it. As it sits now if you already have it, then its either dismantle or infusion fuel. If we are to enjoy and play until future content, then let the chase be there for those who do chase. Random rolls is a way to express that. I understand where the casuals want a "consistent" gun and i don't want to take away from that, some guns should have a distinct feel/archetype, but the Endgame Chasers want more Character and Personality packed into their arsenal. Guns like Uriels and Antiope are king because nothing comes close to doing what they do! The Randomness adds competition and creative builds, playstyles are more diverse and feel more personal along with the sense of power fantasy. Not to mention when you collect every gun..... what then? The sense of discovery is essentially lost. That magical chase of G-roll status gun made it worth the chase. Lol its funny but it kinda feels like they took the Cod WW2 Route, took out create a class for divisions.

  • Technically you’d need to find another game. There is an extremely noticeable difference in those perks. Some peels heavily favor PvP. Some PvE. Random rolls will only bring back the problems D1 had. Why not instead try out a new idea. LIKE FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE WEAPON PERK MODS!!!

  • D1 had no problems, D1 had complainers. It needs to go back to that system and you need to get out

  •
D1 had no problems, D1 had complainers. It needs to go back to that system and you need to get out
D1 had no problems? What were are you smoking? PvE had plenty of glitches and no reason to do patrols, and PvP was an umbalanced and steaming mess.

  • You are correct, lots of glitches and no reasons to do patrols. (There were a couple of times we had reasons to do patrols, but I’m not petty and not trying to go off on a rabbit trail). But we had random rolls. That’s all we needed to have something to do. And the mess in the crucible was often the most enjoyable aspect of pvp. Grinding for the grasp or the eyasluna or the hopscotch pilgrim in year 1 were some of the most fun experiences I ever had, and I did it all for pvp.

  • I agree man. At least with Random Rolls its like an unspoken layer that gives you something to strive for the whole time you grind. Yea it was annoying to play for weeks and not get what you want, but if you ENJOYED playing and was having fun, you would still end up playing for (X)weeks and just played it then eventually something useful or unexpected would fall into your lap. I miss the variation the most, right now its just no suprise or mystery in gunplay or loot drops. I thought Cayde said there would be a TON of Loot? Never trust an Exo lol

  • Yah man, their whole marketing scheme was loot, but they removed the loot mechanic that made the loot plentiful. If I’m honest, my heart sank the most when they announced static rolls and I knew it wouldn’t be the same

Also, the grinding was the least enjoyable thing in the game! Granted, once you got what you wanted, you were fine, but that meant possible WEEKS of grinding in Crucible or Raids.

  • Sounds like this dudes just pissed cause he sucked too bad at D1 to grind god rolls. Youre in the minority, 90% of the players have left the game altogether because shit like this DIDNT come back

  • Lmao somebody doesn’t suck cause they didn’t grind. It sucks to grind for a CHANCE to maybe drop the right gun and then a CHANCE for it to be what you want. Skill literally has no factor. That made the game cancer... but keep believing what you want...

  • No, but they suck when they literally cry that they dont want to grind for good weapons to the point that the devs change a system THE MAJORITY preferred. Cause yeah, a neutered feeling game with no tangible endgame or meaningful progression besides cosmetics is totally better. I love replaying content for no reason. So awesome that you dont have to win a single trials match or even load into a raid to get the "endgame gear." D1 casual crybabies like you are what ruined D2.

  • Lmao they changed it cause people literally farmed for days and never got what they wanted. Grasp of Malok? Eyasluna? Palindrome? Clever Dragon? Matador? I can keep going. People would receive plenty of them. Just never the right one. That was NOT fun and never will be fun. But to each their own.
I can outplay you in every aspect of this game but go ahead thinking I’m a casual 😉
Speak for yourself, literally sounds like you ran each maybe once or twice and got upset you didnt get the roll you wanted. I didnt feel a fraction of the excitement completing my entire exotic collection in D2 as i did getting my first god rolled Imago Loop. Moments like that dont exist in this game, and itll continue to die because of it. You can argue like im "wrong" all you want, but the numbers dont lie homie. Game is suffering because of the shitty design choices. Look at the number of unique players in September compared to December right after Osiris and you'll see how much better the new systems are working out illustrated first hand. Game is dying and soon to be dead if they dont bring things like this back, and the number of players MORE than proves it. Also, why do you think a dev should cater to casuals who are gonna play for a month and forget about the game instead of the people who fully intended to play the game for a couple of years? Wild.
