GM's just need surges and overcharges removed and power deficit reduced to -20. GM used to be "hard" but for the wrong reasons, putting 40% DR was a terrible idea but the point its at now is just about right with 30% DR at T10.
Also, yeah uncapped light was good since it allowed easier farming of Master activities later into a season. Making farming quicker later on is better for the game than making it slower otherwise you get GOTD where no-one wants to play that pile of crap.
My honest opinion on difficulty of Destiny is that everything should be gambit level enemies which feel pretty balanced IMO and for harder activities they'd just utilise more heavy hitters like Tormentors and Brigs in interesting placements like up high or off to the side. Just inflating health and damage and calling it a day is beyond lazy when the actual combat is not engaging.
